PRESS RELEASE

AAU West Coast National Championship and Coach O Day

Coach O Enterprises supports the event for fourth straight year;
inaugural Coach O Day will be July 3, 2016

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (6/30/16) - The 2016 AAU West Coast National Championship (WCNC) is set for June 30 - July 3, 2016 at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in Reno, Nev.  Started in 2007, the WCNC gives youth athletes a chance to compete and showcase their talents on a national stage.

Formerly known as the AAU West Coast Junior Olympic Games, 2016 will mark the 10th year of this event. Participation has increased by over 200 percent since its inaugural year in 2007 and averages close to 1,000 athletes each year.

Reno has a picturesque location surrounded by mountains and is in close proximity to Lake Tahoe, making it a popular vacation destination. Many clubs choose this competition as their major national event for the year while others attend to qualify for the AAU Junior Olympic Games. This location and venue will also serve as host of the 2nd Annual AAU West Coast National Primary Championships to be held Friday, July 1, 2016.

The success of the event can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of meet organizers, local support and the ability to secure staff and sponsors.

"The City of Reno has been very supportive of this event and the reason we are bringing the first ever AAU West Coast Cross Country Championship to Reno on November 12, 2016,” said Karen Fowler, WCNC Meet Director. "We are proud to have Coach O as a sponsor for the WCNC and Sunday, July 3, 2016 (finals day) will be Coach O Day."

Coach O Day is a unique sponsor benefit for Coach O Enterprises who has served as an event sponsor for the last four years. The organization is committed to youth athletics, providing solutions for the track and field community and doing what they can to contribute to the longevity of the sport. Coach O Day will be a reminder to athletes, parents and coaches to work hard, set goals, and celebrate their achievements on and off the track.

"We are happy to support the AAU West Coast National Championship for a fourth year," said Charles Oliver, Coach O Executive.   “It is important to assist events that provide opportunities to increase interest in the sport and build a strong foundation for the future of Athletics. The organizers for the West Coast National Championship do an excellent job year in and year out and we are excited to contribute and be a part of the team."

Supporting competitions is just one of the ways Coach O gives back to the track and field community. The organization holds several annual contests that allow athletes to display their achievements on a national platform. This summer, Coach O is conducting the #iGo4Gold campaign which allows youth athletes to submit competition and awards pictures to be displayed on the organization’s website. More information about the campaign can be found at www.coacho.com/go4gold.
