Just a reminder to all that if you are scheduled to arrive at either ABC or CDM and your flight is cancelled due to bad weather the clubs CAN NOT release your units for rent for the night unless you notify them. If your flight has been cancelled, you can bet there are owners that are stranded in Aruba and don't have a place to stay for the night. If you find yourself in this situation please, call Aruba Beach Club (from the US) 011-297-524-3000 or 011-297-524-3006 (Liza) and 011-297- 524-3005 (Ida) to get them directly or email reservations@arubabeachclub.net  call Casa del Mar (from the US) 011-297-582-7000 (ext 672) or email  Shanella Pantophlet   shanella.pantophlet@casadelmar-aruba.net  and tell them to release your room for the nights you know you won't be able to make it. This not only gives people in Aruba a place to stay for the night, but it also keeps you from paying the energy charge for a room that sits empty and makes you some money also.

 

Sorry, but I no longer list banked rentals you might have with RCI, II. I will only list units that you own and that are available for rent.

 

As the owner of a unit you are the only person who has the right to rent your room. This is often risky to give your room to a broker because of several things that can go wrong. I know for a fact that there are people out there that poach from my list and rent making a profit but without knowing who they are I can't remove them from my mailing list. I am asking your co-operation in sending me the names of anyone that might approach you offering to rent your unit for you or asking you to rent it and put in in someones name beside their own. The best way to make use of my list is to rent out your OWN week.

Never assume that because you saw the ad on "Kandys List" that it couldn't be a scam. Always confirm ownership with the resort BEFORE you send any money.

TRIP REPORTS AND MESSAGES FROM YOU

Hello Kandy, Week 50 at CDM was another gem of a week in Paradise. The beach is huge and growing bigger each day. Other than a few sprinkles on Friday morning, it was smooth sailing for the whole week. The breeze was gentle with only sand between your toes and not in your face. From our perspective it was not that crowded and there was nary an issue with getting a chicki on the beach or by the pool. I get down to the beach early but when I left circa 7 AM, there were still several available. The webcam continues to be a big hit. I spoke with Bob Curtis who tracks the visits to the site and said it was quite busy with many, like me, checking it out periodically. He said he is told people love the audio portion and will leave that on just to listen to the sound of the waves.

Kandy, I read last week's note from the woman who has trouble converting kilos and florins.  My approach is simple and approximates the price in dollars. A kilogram is 2.2 lbs., and to convert florins to dollars multiply by 60%. So tomatoes selling for 7 florins a kilo would be roughly $2.10 per lb. A half kilo woul be 1.1 lbs at 3.5 florins.  Then 3.5 florins times 60% would convert to $2.10. One florin would be roughly 60 cents, two florins $1.20; three florins roughly $1.80 and so on.  Ten florins comes to roughly $6.00. It is all approximate, but it works out to be pretty close.

 

Kandy: New restaurant across the street in the Alhambra Shopping Plaza opened last night, TOF " Taste of Flavors" we ate there this evening, I had the grouper, generous portion ( you get two sides) $20.00 husband had the Mahi Mahi also generous portion $24.00. I had a glass of wine $8.00. You can bring your own wine, $5.00 corkage charge. Sit out or in, good choices on the menu. It was delightful!

 

Hi Kandy, Has a thought about the resorts' libraries:  Many people read with tablets so I fear that's the reason there are fewer and fewer books.  I bring a couple of paperbacks but also I've downloaded some books on my Kindle.

Presidential Suites offer air conditioned luxurious two-bedroom suites with two baths, fully equipped kitchen with all utensils and place settings required for a family of six, dining room, living room with queen size sleep sofa, three TV's, clock radio, phone, in-room safe and balcony or patio.  Presidential Suites sleep up to six people. The Presidential Master Bedroom features a king size bed, dresser, remote control TV and large closet with mirrored sliding doors. In addition to lamps on each night stand there are small adjustable reading lamps located on the wall above the headboard. A private master bath suite with shower and a separate extra large bathtub allow guests to luxuriate in privacy.
