Career Days at Area Schools

Wondering where the next generation of skilled tradespeople will come from? Worried that too many kids are being sent down a one-size-fits-all college track that doesn't make sense for all kids? Wishing you could tell young people about career opportunities in your field?

ABC is partnering with Junior Achievement at area high schools and middle schools to help get the message to local students about great careers in commercial construction. Want to help out? Volunteers and role models are needed for career fairs on March 15 and April 18, plus various dates in May. Email Karin if you can give a few hours to this important effort. 
Construction Night with the Icemen 2/25*

JAX Mechanical, a department of JAX Refrigeration, is proud to serve as the "Keeper of the Ice" - the official rink maintenance provider for the  Jacksonville Icemen .  Get ready as JAX Refrigeration hosts the Icemen's first ever "Construction & Trade Industry Night" on Feb. 25.  The puck hits the ice that Sunday at 3pm as the Icemen host the Brampton Beast. 

In between the action, JAX's mascot, Fridgie, will battle against some of the toughest First Coast mascots in the first ever Mascot Challenge and hundreds of plush Fridgies will be propelled into the stands! The first 3,000 fans receive a special commemorative towel. JAX Refrigeration employees, friends and family can get special discounted tickets at  www.jacksonvilleicemen.com/FRIDGIE . A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to support JAXCares and  Dreams Come True of Jacksonville . 

JAX Refrigeration kicks off the day with a celebration to commemorate eight years of successfully serving the refrigeration/HVAC needs of the Jax community and companies around the country with a pre-party from noon-2 p.m. at Jacksonville Sports Tavern. New Safety Resource for ABC Members

One of the six leading indicators from ABC's Safety Performance Report involves new hire orientations, specifically the length of the safety portion of the orientation. Does your company need help in this area? Great news!

ABC has developed a New Hire Safety Orientation PowerPoint template along with a Participant and Facilitators Guide, so member firms with the need can have the resources to begin their "Road to World Class Safety". The template is customizable.

The template is available upon request to the Chapter President and will be available online with other ABC national safety resources soon.
