Thune and Peters Announce Agreement on Self-Driving Vehicle Legislation
Senators will introduce and release legislative text Thursday

WASHINGTON  – U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) tonight issued the following joint statement on reaching agreement on a bipartisan legislative text that sets a framework for the advancement of self-driving vehicle technology. The agreement will allow the Commerce Committee to proceed with consideration of the legislation at a markup on October 4.

“We have reached agreement on a bipartisan path forward for Senate self-driving vehicle legislation. We anticipate introducing and releasing the full text of our legislative proposal tomorrow. While this Senate self-driving vehicle legislation still has room for further changes, it is a product of bipartisan cooperation we both stand behind. Ultimately, we expect adoption of self-driving vehicle technologies will save lives, improve mobility for people with disabilities, and create new jobs. We look forward to sharing the details of our proposal tomorrow, and working with our colleagues to advance the bill.”

Christkindlmarkt Chicago Trip
We have space available on an overnight getaway to Chicago. Most details are included in the flyer.

You will meet the bus at:
 Carpathia Club approximately 7:00 am
 38000 Utica Road
 Sterling Heights, MI

You may park your car in the back of the hall and leave it overnight.

The motor coach will stop for breakfast on the way. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the Christkindlmarkt. There are tons of arts and craft vendors with lots of shopping available and a variety of food and beverages. This a German Christmas Market and it is both inside and outside. It is at the Daley Plaza and is a 3 block walk to the Palmer House Hilton.

Overnight accommodations at the historic Palmer House Hilton in Downtown Chicago. The evening is on your own to enjoy the city, shop on Michigan Ave, see a Broadway style show; whatever you would like to do.

After checking out of the hotel on Friday morning, the bus will make a lunch stop at the Chicago Brauhaus (German restaurant) and then head back to Carpathia.

There is a restroom on board the deluxe motor coach, but the group will make restroom stops. Depending on time, there may be an additional stop on the way home as well.

Returning back to the Carpathia Club approximately 10:00 pm.

We send out a letter around Thanksgiving time with the exact meeting time at Carpathia for Thursday, November 30th.

This group visits a Christkindlmarkt every year. We alternate between Chicago and Kitchener/Toronto.

Holiday Wishes,
