Crime During The Holiday Season!

Statistically burglaries increase significantly during this time of year so please make sure you are using your security system.  Remember to arm your system even if you leave your house for just a minute. Crime is often based on opportunity and that is why having an active monitored alarm helps to reduce burglaries from happening.  
 


Helpful Holiday Tips
  1. If leaving town make sure to suspend any newspaper subscriptions and call our central station to make any necessary call list changes while you are away.  For example, if you are away and no one will be home then we wouldn't want to call your home number if we receive a burglary signal. 
  2. Don't put on any social media sites such as Facebook that you will be leaving town and be cautious who you let know because many burglaries tend to happen while folks are on vacation. 
  3. Lastly, make sure to have timed lights so that it will appear that someone is in fact home and the home is not vacant. 

New Year, New Contact Information?

Has your contact information changed recently? Please remember to call our service department at 1-888-595-6003 to confirm and make any permanent changes.
Don't Forget To Test Your Alarm!

Reminder, don't forget to test your alarm system at least once a month. If you change phones make sure to test to make sure your alarm system is still sending signals.
Duress or "Panic" Codes

Did you know our alarm systems include "duress codes"? Entering the code when under duress from an assailant can trigger a silent alarm, alerting police or security personnel in a covert manner.

Re-Evaluating your Protection

When you had your security system installed, you may have had only a few areas protected in your home/business (such as your doors and some windows). It's always recommended that easily accessible areas should be protected, but it may have not been in your initial budget. In most cases, you can always add to your existing system. Beware of Bundling Services

Some internet/phone and cable companies are now offering bundle packages that include an alarm. There are many reasons why bundling isn't good. For one, companies tend to want to sell bundling to customers so you'll be reluctant to switch because you have all your services looped together, even if you're unhappy with the company. In addition, these companies do not specialize in alarms so they cannot offer solid technical support, product diversity, as well as reliability to your alarm. Security is an important thing, and bundling it with a one stop shop that doesn't specialize in security is something to truly be cautious about. Changing Your Telephone Service Provider?

In most cases, your alarm system is designed to work with your telephone line. It's connected in a special way to transmit alarm signals without interference using your main phone line. If this connection is disturbed, alarm signals may not be reported to the central station. Alarm systems may not work or may not be as reliable with some VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) cable telephone service providers

Before making any changes to your phone system it's important to let your telephone provider know that you have a monitored alarm, and call us so we can confirm if it's a reliable source for communication. Test the alarm before your phone tech leaves to ensure your alarm is communicating with our central station.
