Set Clocks & Fall Cleaning

Don't forget to set your clocks back on Sunday, November 1st, 2015!

This is also a great time to remember to clean your smoke detectors and replace batteries. Many fire and home safety agencies suggest that you take care of smoke detector maintenance on the same day you turn your clocks back for Daylight Savings Time. 

Dust and contaminants can interfere with a smoke alarm's ability to detect smoke, so make it a point to clean all detectors in your home, at least twice a year. Use your vacuum cleaner's upholstery wand to clear away any dust or cobwebs that have settled around the detectors. If in accordance with your manufacturer's instructions, vacuum out the smoke alarms' interior compartments as well.

Beware of Bundling Services 

Some Internet/phone and cable companies are now offering bundle packages that include an alarm. There are many reasons why bundling isn't good.

For one, Companies tend to sell bundling to customers so you'll be reluctant to switch because you have all your services looped together, even if you're unhappy with the company. In addition, these companies don't specialize in alarms so they can't offer solid technical support.  For more information or questions feel free to contact our service department.

Changing Your Telephone Service Provider? 

In most cases, your alarm system is designed to work with your telephone line. If this connection is disturbed, alarm signals may not be reported to the central station. Alarm systems may not work with some VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) cable telephone service providers.

Before making changes to your phone system call us to confirm if it's a reliable source for communication. Test the alarm before your phone tech leaves to ensure your alarm is communicating with our central station.
