Lori Rork: A Leader in Wound Care
In 2013, I started working in a new leadership position for a wound care management company. My supervisor encouraged me to take a wound care certification, knowing that it would increase respect as a leader with a certification. I immediately began reviewing the study materials and within a month I was taking the CWCA exam.

I am often asked what CWCA stands for, which, then, gives me the opportunity to encourage others to become certified and promote the American Board of Wound Management. Since my certification, I have received my BSN, allowing me to sit for the CWS.

Wound care has been my passion for over 10 years in different capacities. As an associate of the ABWM I feel it is important to be active on committees. I was approached by Past President Susan Dieter, RN, MS, CWS, who asked if I would like to sit on the exam committee this past summer. I found this process to be very interesting and self-fulfilling, collaborating with others from different clinical positions. It was great to meet other members who were on the committee as well as very satisfying to know I was part of updating the exam. I look forward to continue serving the ABWM.

Board Member Spotlight:
Yvette Monteleon, RN, CWS
I have been working for American Medical Technologies (AMT) since 2006. AMT is a leading Durable Medical Equipment Supplier in the Post-Acute, Senior Marketplace and specializes in providing wound care supplies and related billing services to our long-term care partners. Essentially, we partner with facility staff to identify eligible residents who have wounds and bill for their dressing products, all the while providing education on dressings, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement. AMT services over 6,500 long term care facilities in the United States. I initially joined the organization as a field-based, clinical specialist and have since moved into a national position as Regional Vice President.

I was elected to the Board of Directors for the American Board of Wound Management in 2013. It was an honor and privilege to have even been nominated and being awarded the seat was unexpected. Being exposed to the regulatory and accreditation process was eye opening.  Since my election to the Board, I have also participated in the CWCA and CWS exam review committee. Prior to participating in the exam review committee, I didn’t really understand and appreciate the particulars of testing principles, statistical requirements, and the significant amount of work required for validating an accredited certification. This Certification comes with high regard and I am proud to call myself a Certified Wound Specialist.
