Register for 2018 County Days at the Capitol

Previously known as District Days at the Capitol, County Days present county officials and staff with an opportunity to engage with the ACCG policy staff and key state leaders to discuss significant issues before the General Assembly. Annual Immigration Report Due on December 31st

Every year, counties, cities, and local authorities are required to submit an immigration report to the Department of Audits and Accounts by December 31. The reporting period spans from Dec. 1, 2016, through Nov. 30, 2017. An overview of the report template can be viewed  here . The report requires the county to submit information related to their E-Verify number and authorization date, E-Verify contractor information, E-Verify private employer information, and public benefit information, and also requires the county to certify that it is compliant with state law regarding sanctuary policies. This report is mandatory and must be submitted by every county governing authority and all county authorities. DOAA will be reporting non-compliant counties and county authorities to state agencies that provide state funding to local governments, so make sure to submit your report by Dec. 31, 2017.

2018 State Mandated Salaries

As January approaches, please remember to share the Computing County Official Salaries for 2018 with county staff responsible for calculating payroll. The guide provides instructions for calculating required minimum 2018 salaries for coroners, magistrates, probate judges, sheriffs, superior court clerks and tax commissioners, as well as salaries for county commissioners and other officials.

State of Transportation Breakfast

The Georgia Transportation Alliance will host its inaugural State of Transportation Breakfast on Jan. 24, 2018. The event will celebrate Georgia's strong leadership and investment in transportation and cast a vision for continued leadership into the future.

Local Taxes on Aviation Fuel Must Comply with New FAA Rule

State leaders from the Department of Transportation, Department of Revenue, and Office of Planning and Budget recently sent a memorandum to remind local government airport sponsors of their responsibility to comply with the new Federal Aviation Administration rule on the taxation of aviation fuel. Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) in Georgia

Does your county have a transportation project need that is adjacent to, or provides access to, federal lands? If so, check out the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP). The Call for Projects application period opened on December 1, 2017, and runs through March 1, 2018. An estimated total of $2.5M will be available for programming in Georgia.
