International Walk to School Day Success!

Thank you to all parents, volunteers, and Augusta Circle staff for helping make the 20th annual International Walk to School Day a great success. We had 82% participation from the student body, an awesome number that allows ACE to continue to be recognized for one of the most successful walk and ride to school programs in the state.

The First Grade had the highest grade level participation. Ms. Owens’s class won the Golden Cleat for the overall highest participation. Mrs. Brazell’s class won the Silver Shoe for the most walkers/riders who came from home, and Mrs. Walter’s class won the Silver Wheel for having the most students arrive on bikes and scooters.

Our next official Walk and Wheel day will be March 8, 2017 when we celebrate South Carolina Walk to School day. However, there will be other opportunities before March to become involved with this important effort. Please contact Elaine Barnhill at 864-414-4182 if you have other questions.

School Picture Day!

Lunch & Learn

Keys to Understanding Executive Function

Do these statements sound familiar:  I’ve worked with my child.  She is organized.  He has his math in the blue folder.  She does write down most of her assignments.  BUT… things are still not going well at school.  She is not acting on what I’m sure she knows.  He has such a hard time starting work.  Prioritizing and problem solving are so hard.
Please join us Friday, November 4 from 11:30am-12:30pm in the science lab (downstairs) as we learn about executive function and the role it plays in our children’s success at school.  Our speaker is Dr. Pat Goodyear from Behavioral and Learning Potentials.  She will help us with a definition of executive function.  She will also talk to us about ways to promote the development of executive function in our children.  We’re looking forward to learning together! If you would like to bring your lunch, that is fine!  I will provide water and small snacks! If you have  questions, please contact Patti Rushing, School Counselor, here.

Box Tops Due!

Please keep collecting your Box Tops!  All Box Tops need to be turned into Augusta Circle by Wednesday, October 12.
