The 2016-2017 Reflections Arts Program is under way!

This year's theme is "What Is Your Story?"  Students have the opportunity to express this theme through their original works in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Visual Arts, Music Composition, Literature, or Photography.

Students are encouraged to enter multiple submissions in as many categories as they choose.  A flyer explaining Reflections and a sample submission form came home last week.  You can find extras here.  Looking for inspiration or ideas for how to express the Reflections theme?  Take a look at last year's state level winners.  Submission deadline is October 7.  If you have any questions, please contact Danice Meunier HERE.

Raise Craze!

Raise Craze kicked off Friday with an awesome Pep Rally!

If you haven't already, don't forget to log in to the site listed in your packet and create your child's page.  Let's reach our goal of 4,000 Acts of Kindness while raising money for our school!

Don't forget to bring an item for Upstate Backpack Blessings to Fall Family Night.  A few suggestions are:

  • Granola bars
  • Cereal bars
  • Applesauce packs
  • Snack packs of crackers
  • Individual packs of microwave popcorn
  • Individual packs of macaroni & cheese

Donation boxes for Upstate Backpack Blessings, Gently Used Books for Greenville Literacy Association and luggage for the Carry On program for Fostering Great Ideas will be located outside the front office throughout Raise Craze.  The class from each grade with the most acts of kindness will win a pizza party!

International Walk to School Day

Nationwide, International Walk to School Day will be celebrated at over 4,000 events at participating schools. Walkers from the U.S. will join children and adults in 40 countries around the world.

Augusta Circle Elementary will celebrate the 20th anniversary of International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 when students join more than 40 other locations in the Upstate and over 200 in South Carolina to walk and roll to school and at school.

Participants are asked to walk or roll as usual that morning, or find a group to join if they prefer. CLICK HERE for meeting stations and contacts. Please be on the lookout for others to be added to this list. Special guests with surprises will be on-hand to greet students as they arrive on campus, and classes with the most participants will be recognized at the end of the day.

Walk to School events help create safer routes for walking and bicycling. Children experience the benefits of physical activity and practice pedestrian safety. As an additional plus, traffic congestion is reduced and connections are built between families, schools, and the broader community.

Additional details will come home with your students next week to help you prepare for this fun day. ACE is continuously recognized as having one of the highest percentages of students that walk and wheel to school in the state. It’s an honor we are proud of, and we encourage you to help us maintain this achievement. For more information, please contact Elaine Barnhill at elainebarnhill@gmail.com or 864-414-4182.
