  • Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) co-chairs, Lauri Washburn and Sue Randall, will present on what the (real wireless) NET is all about.
  • Stefanie Adams, Crime Prevention Coordinator for Southwest Portland, will talk about how to help our neighborhood create and maintain safe and secure environments.
  • A representative from the American Red Cross (ARC) will update us on what the ARC can do before, during, and after a disaster.

Active Transportation "L"
The SWNI Transportation Committee requested each neighborhood select 3 projects from the SW Corridor Plan Project List in an effort to rank them for support. None of the projects are in Arnold Creek. The ACNA Active Transportation Committee recommended one project from the list, #6026 - Pomona St. improvements, and also recommended pedestrian and bicycle improvements to the "L" connecting Jackson Middle School to Stephenson Elementary School and continuing to Boones Ferry Road. Members at the March meeting passed a motion supporting these recommendations to the SWNI Transportation Committee

Boones Ferry Culvert Replacement
Jennifer Devlin, Portland Bureau of Environmental Services and John Mullen, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, attended our March meeting and presented plans for replacing the culvert under Boones Ferry Road near Arnold Street. The project includes a new trail to replace an informal trail following Tryon Creek to the culvert. It will cross under Boones Ferry to connect with the North Creek Trail in Tryon Park.

There are different options for the culvert replacement including a bridge and a pedestrian-accessable culvert. The contractor has recommended a culvert but the majority of committee members prefer a bridge. Members present at the March 11th Arnold Creek meeting unanimously supported the bridge option.

The link below shows the proposed trail:
