Lehrman to address the key issues facing the craft distilling industry.

“Chris is a thoughtful, deliberate, and engaging leader, and I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next year as he leads our organization into this new and exciting chapter,” said Mark Shilling, who will help transition Montana as he takes on this new role. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the members of ACSA, the only national trade association led by distillers to serve distillers, and I know Chris will do a fantastic job carrying on the great work we have accomplished over the last year.”

“I am humbled by this opportunity to serve our members at ACSA. I’d like to thank Mark and our retiring board members for their mentorship, support, and their tireless efforts that have set us on the path to continued success," added Chris. “There are big shoes to fill this year as many of ACSA’s founding members leave our Board of Directors, having completed full terms. These industry leaders set the bar high with their clear vision and goal-oriented leadership, and I look forward to following their legacy as we lead ACSA into a new chapter. As the industry continues to grow at a record pace, I am excited to work with the tremendously talented team at ACSA as we continue the excellent work already in progress to elevate and advocate for our craft distilling community.”

Whiskey Becoming Central Ingredient in Tiki Cocktails
Tiki, that all-American fantasia of faux-Polynesian flavors and decor, is among our most enduring cocktail movements. Now a new gang of tiki drinks is sweeping American bars, and they’ve swapped rum for whiskey . But don’t worry—they still have those tiny umbrellas. (VinePair)
New Vermont Distillery Run By Veterans For Veterans
A new distillery in northern Vermont isn’t just manufacturing spirits. It’s raising the spirits of the community, especially when it comes to veterans. In an industrial garage in Saint Albans, Steve Gagner uses an electric pump to transfer clear, strong-smelling liquid from a tank to a white-oak barrel. Open this barrel in a year or two, and you’ll taste one of the first batches of bourbon from Danger Close Craft Distilling. (New England Public Radio)
Reminder: We Still Need Your Response for 2018 Craft Spirits Data Project
ACSA, Park Street and the IWSR are again asking for your help. We are collecting, analyzing, and reporting on economic data for our craft spirits community, the media, and Congress. Reinvestment of the FET savings, job growth, in-state versus out-of-state sales, and bottom line contribution to the U.S. economy will be reported. This year, this data is all the more important as we attempt to educate your federal Representatives and Senators on how you are using your tax savings. Tell us! We cannot do this without your assistance. We will again collaborate with our industry partners to secure updates from the wholesale and retail tier.
