ACSA Craft Spirits Competition's Final Deadline Fast Approaching
October 27 is the final day to register for ACSA’s annual judging competition. All participating spirits must be received by November 1. The cost to enter is $250 per spirit for ACSA members and $350 per spirit for non-members. Judges will convene at District Distilling Co. in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 7 and 8. Winners will be announced during the ACSA Distillers Convention & Vendor Trade Show in Pittsburgh, Pa., March 5-6, 2018.
Copper & Kings Distills World's Oldest Known Gin Recipe
Louisville, Ky.-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. has distilled the world’s oldest known gin recipe, first documented in 1495 by a wealthy merchant from the Duchy of Guelders (in what we now know as Germany). (The Drinkable Globe)
Moonshine University Launching 'My Craft Distillery' Program
Moonshine University has announced the launch of the My Craft Distillery program. The program allows spirit lovers from around the globe the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create their very own spirit, completely customized to their taste and have a hand in every step of the process from crafting the mash bill and selecting the perfect barrel for aged spirits, to bottling the finished product. TTB Seeks Volunteers for Usability Studies
TTB wants to make getting your permit and label approvals as simple as possible. TTB is looking for volunteers to give feedback on COLAs Online and Permits Online.

Here are the details:
  • Who: People who have (or will soon have) submitted either label application(s) using COLAs Online or permit/registration/notice application(s) on Permits Online.
  • What: You will be asked to do some typical tasks (no preparation needed!) and answer some questions.
  • Where: You will be at your own computer, sharing your screen and speaking on the phone with a researcher during a one-on-one, 1 to 1½ -hour research and feedback session.
  • When: Sessions will take place in mid to late-October.
  • Confidentiality: Data collected will not be shared outside TTB.

  • COLAs Online or Permits Online. State which study you would like to participate in.
  • Contact Info. The best phone number to contact you during the day.
  • Experience. The approximate number of label application(s) and/or permit/registration/notice application(s) that you have ever submitted.
  • Your commodity. If you work with malt beverages, wine, distilled spirits, or a combination of them.

Frey Ranch Estate Distillery Celebrates Fourth Anniversary
Nevada's Frey Ranch Estate Distillery will host a four-year anniversary celebration from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday. Fallon's Frey Ranch Estate Distillery has released several award-winning spirits, including vodka, gin, barrel-aged gin, and absinthe. Husband and wife duo and owners, Colby and Ashley Frey, are inviting the community to celebrate the estate-distillery's anniversary with complimentary tours and tastings. (Nevada Appeal)
Ann Arbor Distilling Commemorates the Release of Bourbon and Rye
The Ann Arbor Distilling Co. is hosting a celebration to commemorate the release of its Fox River Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Rye Whiskey, with specially made cocktails incorporating the long-awaited bottles. A limited release of the whiskey varieties in August 2016 saw the company's supply run out fairly quickly, said Phil Attee, sales manager and brand ambassador at the distillery at 220 Felch St. near downtown Ann Arbor. Atlantic City's Tropicana Beer & Whisky Fest to Showcase 30 Craft Spirits
The second annual Tropicana Beer & Whiskey Festival will feature more than 60 domestic and imported craft beers, and roughly 30 brands of artisan whiskies including White Cap American Whiskey from Atlantic City’s own Little Water Distillery, which became A.C.’s first legal distillery last November. The Beach Whiskey Expands Distribution, Grows 300% in Three Months
The Beach Whiskey Company announced that it has secured placement with leading American retailers in the on- and off-premise that have contributed to case growth of 296 percent in the last three months over the prior three months. (Business Insider)
