Then Jesus said to his disciples:
"
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear."
Luke 12:22

In the 12th Chapter of Luke, the focus is upon the love of money.  Just prior to verse 22, Jesus has been asked to resolve a dispute over the distribution of a man's estate. Jesus responds by telling a parable about a man who stores away his wealth until he feels he has so much he can just live the rest of his life care-free. But, a reversal comes when the man dies soon after his retirement and does not get to enjoy the fruit of his labor. Jesus says that this is how it will be for those who are materially wealthy but poor in their relationship with God.

We all know that we are called to love the Lord with all our heart, strength, and mind, and love our neighbors as ourselves. However, sometimes it is difficult to find tangible ways to express that love.

Last night at vestry, Jay Ide told us about a severe need for men's clothing to distribute at Tulsa Night Light. As Jay spoke, I thought about my closet and chest of drawers that are crammed with many items of apparel that I know I will never wear again. Jay's request reminded me of how blessed I am. I am sitting on a storehouse of wealth that I consider worthless, but to another person in need, is very valuable. Another friend told me that Night Light is in desperate need of feminine hygiene products. I don't have a storehouse of those, but the Lord has blessed me with the ability to purchase items at a grocery store.

In Matthew 25 verses 27-40 Jesus says, " Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"

It is my hope that my relationship with Jesus Christ is growing more and more. Because of that, I want to do things for Him. So, I will close down this article and head for the drawers and closets. I have clothes to gather and things to buy.

Our Vision Statement Is:

The Anglican Church of Saint Paul will become a church united in love, growing spiritually through small groups of individuals studying God's Holy Word, praying for one another and the blessing of the church, and working towards the goal that the Lord's "salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." (Isaiah 49:6)

The following scriptures summarize our church's Core Values:

OUR PRIORITY - First of all, seek God. "... seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

OUR DIRECTION - Come out of the wilderness to the LORD and beckon others to join us. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

OUR PURPOSE - Be healed and become a place of healing and peace. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

OUR REMINDER - In all things, it is the LORD who gets the glory. "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)

OUR REWARD - Keep our eyes upon the prize. "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it." (Revelation 2:17)
