"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for goodfor those who are called according to his purpose. "
Romans 8:28 (ESV)

One of the most fascinating and enjoyable aspects of being a Christian is knowing that there is more to life than what is visible to us.  For example, we accepted the fact that Jesus was crucified, died, buried and rose again from the dead. We did not accept this because of what we could see, but by faith in what we cannot see. He then chose to make Himself known to us in very real, but difficult to explain, ways.

We often hear stories of great blessing: the check which comes unexpectedly in the mail; the house that sells in a slow market within days; or a miracle in which a life is protected.

We also hear stories of great tragedy: good people who lose their jobs and face bankruptcy; the house that is lost to foreclosure because no buyer can be found; or the tragic loss of a life that showed such promise.

It is our nature to judge what pleases us as blessing, and what pains us as curse. However, St. Paul reminds us that we see in a mirror dimly. We cannot see every ripple, created by every event of life that occurs to those who believe. Only God can do that.

Paul also states, " we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for  those who are called according to his purpose."

Do we really have the faith to believe that God truly does make all things work together for good? To believe this means that we have to abandon our judgment of good and bad. We may not be able to see the ripples which ultimately bring about good, but our faith encourages us in knowing that God will be victorious and bring good to that which may have been intended for evil.

As Christians, all of us know that when we die, Jesus will welcome us into His Kingdom. Even though we cannot see it, we know from Holy Scripture that there will be no more pain or suffering; no tears, but eternal bliss in the presence of God. I believe that part of this bliss will be seeing our lives from Christ's point of view. It is my hope that we will see how He used our lives to bring about good. We will be awestruck by the magnificence of His wisdom and power to transform ALL THINGS into good for His eternal glory.

When I am struggling with difficult circumstances, I take solace and rest in that hope. In the meantime, I enjoy it when He reveals to me His working all things together for good.

Our Vision Statement Is:

The Anglican Church of Saint Paul will become a church united in love, growing spiritually through small groups of individuals studying God's Holy Word, praying for one another and the blessing of the church, and working towards the goal that the Lord's "salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." (Isaiah 49:6)

The following scriptures summarize our church's Core Values:

OUR PRIORITY - First of all, seek God. "... seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

OUR DIRECTION - Come out of the wilderness to the LORD and beckon others to join us. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

OUR PURPOSE - Be healed and become a place of healing and peace. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

OUR REMINDER - In all things, it is the LORD who gets the glory. "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)

OUR REWARD - Keep our eyes upon the prize. "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it." (Revelation 2:17)
