ACTION ALERT:
Tell Congress To Amend Spending Caps
Before Passing the Budget
National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations June 2, 2015

Contact your Representatives. Tell them to vote "no" on the HUD funding bill (H.R. 2577).

The full House of Representatives is expected to vote this week or next on the Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) bill. The bill cuts appropriations and funding for the HOME program, the National Housing Trust Fund, voucher programs, and a host of other non-defense programs.

Yesterday, the White House threatened to veto the bill and any other spending legislation that adheres to the current budget framework, noting that only one in four households eligible for housing assistance actually receives it.

The budget framework is out of balance because of spending caps put in place by the 2011 Budget Control Act. The caps are not only putting pressure on Congress, more importantly, they are putting pressure on families, neighborhoods, and communities.

Contact your Representatives now. Tell them to vote "no" to H.R. 2577 and any other budget bill until the spending caps are replaced.

Sincerely,
