ACTION ALERT:

Demand an end to workplace discrimination

October 2013

Dear PBCHRC Supporter,

In a majority of states -- including Florida -- there are no laws to prevent an employer from firing or refusing to hire someone simply because they are gay, lesbian or gender nonconforming? It's shocking, but it's true.

Take action now to end workplace discrimination. Call Senators Nelson and Rubio and let them know you support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a bill that would finally protect all Americans on the job.

You can reach Senator Nelson at (202) 224-5247 and Senator Rubio at (202) 224-3041.  Your message can be as simple as:

"Hi, my name is __________, and I live in _________.  I'm calling to urge Senator [Nelson/Rubio] to support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act because I believe that no one should face discrimination in the workplace."

With a Senate vote on ENDA possible any day now, hundreds of advocates are on Capitol Hill today, October 3, for an ENDA Lobby Day, demanding that LGBT people be protected from employment discrimination.  Will you add your voice to theirs by calling Senators Nelson and Rubio and letting him/her know you support ENDA? It's really easy, only takes a minute, and can make a real difference.

CallSenator Nelson at (202) 224-5274 and Senator Rubio at (202) 224-3041 and  tell them to support ENDA and end workplace discrimination against LGBT Americans.

If you don't get a staffer on the phone, please leave a voice-mail message. Either way, Senators Nelson and Rubio need to hear from Floridians like you who stand against workplace discrimination.

Thanks for taking action.
