Dayenu - Again!
Yesterday we wrote about the double standard, haste and zeal with which the Israeli government acts against Jews, and not Arabs, specifically in the case of Jewish home demolitions but not of the thousands of illegal Arab structures throughout Israel.
We had hoped that this misplaced zealotry against Jews was just a series of isolated incidents and aberrations. Alas, as they are occurring time and again, we can only conclude that it is standard operating procedure and a double standard.
Just yesterday two Israeli soldiers were charged with burning a Palestinian Authority flag near a checkpoint. Arutz Sheva reported that both soldiers received punishment. One
, a squad commander, has been stripped of his command and given a 20-day IDF military prison sentence; another has received a 28-day sentence.
Again we must ask, what is going in here? Prison sentences for burning an enemy flag? What about a prison sentence for the multitude of Arabs, both citizens of Israel and those under PA rule, who protest and burn the Israeli flag on a regular basis? What about a prison sentence for Arab members of Knesset who call out for the destruction of Israel
from within the Knesset? What about a prison sentence for the Arab MK Haneen Zoabi who seditiously participated in the 2010 Gaza flotilla by joining other Israel haters on the Mavi Marmara trying to break through Israel's legal blockade of Gaza? What about a prison sentence for the owners and editors of Haaretz who climb all over each other trying to defame the state of Israel and who have asked Europe to 'rape' Israel?
If not for them, then why for a couple of Israeli soldiers who burnt a flag?
Yes, Israel is a democracy - a crazily vibrant one at that. However, when individuals call for the destruction of Israel
from within Israel, is this not potentially violence-inducing; is it not sedition? Where is the Israeli government taking acting against Arabs? Why are they given a pass while the government acts with such zeal against Jewish protesters?
Israel has nothing to prove to the nations of the world. Her actions are for the most part, exemplary. This double standard is dangerous as it provides the rest of the world with an excuse to act against Israel. We say, it is time for equal justice across the land. No more pandering, no more excuses, no more giveaways, no more bending over backwards to show the world that justice is dispensed equally.
Israel must stand tall, secure in the knowledge that justice is on her side She must do what is necessary to win the war, be it on the battlefield, in the court of law, or in the court of public opinion. It is not a question of Right or Might. Israel is in the Right, and thank G-d, Israel has the Might. She must use it.
Postscript 1: And these people (the "Palestinians") want a state of their own? No. What they want is to deny the Jews a state of
their
own.
(And this, from an Israeli citizen who is a Member of Knesset!)
