ACCORD TECHNOLOGY LLC, was recognized by the FAA as meeting all requirements defined in Advisory Circular 20-165 for its new NexNav mini GPS WAAS Class Beta-1. Accord Technology is the first in the world to meet this new standard.

 

AERO DYNAMIX  announced long-time aerospace professional JERRY LIVEZEY has joined the team. Livezey will be concentrating on customer support and sales.

 

AIRCELL's Commercial Aviation group in Itasca, Ill., serving the airline markets will be known as Gogo. Aircell's Business Aviation group in Broomfield, Colo., will continue to do business as Aircell, a Gogo company.

 

ATLANTIC AERO recently completed the first installation of the new Pratt & Whitney FAST communication system in a Bombardier Learjet 60.

 

TOM POBEREZNY announced his retirement from EAA after 49 years at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis. Poberezny announced his decision in a last-minute news conference held under the historic brown arch at the edge of the flight line, near the center of the show.

 

GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. announced it has renamed the super midsized Gulfstream G250 aircraft; the business jet is now called the Gulfstream G280. As demand for Gulfstream business jets grows around the world, the move was prompted by the company's sensitivity to the varied cultures of its international customer base.

 

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS & SUPPORT has further broadened the avionics performance available to the Eclipse twin-jet community with new advanced functions for the Avio NG avionics suite. The latest feature is an FAA STC certified flight management system that is integrated into the already feature rich Eclipse glass panel. 

 

MID-CONTINENT INSTRUMENTS announced  the appointment of Dr. JOHN W. GALLMAN to the position of division director for the company's True Blue Power division.

 

PACIFIC SOUTHWEST INSTRUMENTS  announced STEVE WILLIAMS has joined its team at its company headquarters located in Corona, Calif. Williams joins PSI as its director of marketing and business development. 

 

SPORTY'S PILOT SHOP is hosting a "Flying with the iPad" forum for pilots who want to learn to incorporate iPads into their flying, or learn more about the utility of the iPad. "Flying with the iPad" is scheduled for Friday, July 29, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. and repeated on Saturday, July 30, from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Both forums will be presented in the NATCA 08 forum building.

Congressional Inaction Forces Aviation Projects to a Halt

 

According to the FAA, contractors have ceased working on critical airport modernization projects around the country after Congress failed to pass legislation on Friday, July 22, giving the FAA the authority necessary for work to continue. Several "stop work orders" have been issued for major projects designed to build and modernize control towers and other aviation infrastructure throughout the U.S. More... 

 

 

Product News from EAA AirVenture

 

ASPEN AVIONICS announced its patent-pending line of Connected Panel products that seamlessly integrate aviation application data from personal handheld devices with certified avionics installed in an aircraft's panel. 

 

AVIDYNE CORP. introduced a full line of panel-mounted, plug-and-play avionics for general aviation aircraft. Avidyne's new avionics stack includes the IFD540 FMS/GPS/nav/comm system with touch screen user interface, the AMX240 stereo audio panel with marker beacon, the AXP340 Mode S extended squitter transponder and the attitude-based DFC90 digital autopilot.

 

GARMIN has introduced the GTX 23 transponder as a lower-cost option for experimental aircraft or LSA to meet the rules. The new remote-mounted transponder will operate with Garmin's G3X flat glass display system found on experimental aircraft and used on LSA such as Cessna Skycatchers.

 

ROCKWELL COLLINS unveiled the industry's first touch-control primary flight displays for business jets and turboprop aircraft, which will be available on future applications of the company's Pro Line Fusion avionics system.
