Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Affinity Group

The Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice affinity group has more than sixty members from thirteen states who connect virtually to engage in shared inquiry about complex topics such as race, poverty, equity, and opportunity gaps. This affinity group strives to help members build capacity to serve the needs of all students by building culturally proficient leadership teams and working to remove institutional barriers that disproportionately impact students of color, students living in poverty, students with disabilities, and students who are English learners.

As we continue to see inequitable distribution of resources combined with increased pressures on our public schools, the members of the EISJ affinity group have coalesced around ways in which ESAs can better lead the field in tackling some of the most persistent and challenging issues facing our students and communities.

The EISJ community uses an online communication platform - Basecamp - to engage in dialogue and to share resources.

In addition, the members participate in virtual “problem of practice” meetings using a web-based teleconferencing platform - Zoom.

We invite new members who are interested in learning, sharing their expertise, and growing together as we work to improve opportunity and success for each and every student.
