Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Announces
2015 Fellowship Winner 

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is pleased to announce that visual artist Richard Neal is the recipient of the first Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Fellowship.

Mr. Neal will receive his award of $2500 at the AFCC's Spring Grants Reception on April 29, 2015 at the Cape Cod Media Center.  The organization will also present grant awards to local arts organizations and the annual Creative Community Awards at that event.

According to David Kaplan, Executive Director of the Arts Foundation, "We congratulate Richard Neal on being awarded this fellowship and thank the selection committee for their dedicated work.  The Arts Foundation's new Fellowship Program is designed to support working artists living in Barnstable County, and is an outgrowth of our renewed efforts to ensure the vitality of arts and culture on Cape Cod.  Programs such as this help foster a robust arts and culture community, so important to our residents and the millions of tourists who visit the Cape each year."    

 

Richard Neal is a painter and sculptor working at the Chalkboard Studio in Barnstable, Massachusetts. He was born in Washington, DC, grew up in Maryland and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. His work has been exhibited in many group and one-person shows and is included in numerous private collections.

is work was featured in Chelsea, New York City at PopSock Monkey and also at the NKG Gallery in Boston. He was also recently exhibited at the Dadian Gallery in Washington, DC, at Winston-Salem College in North Carolina, at the Tao Water Gallery in Provincetown and at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA. His art is represented in Debbie Forman's book Contemporary Cape Cod Artists: People and Places released last year.  You can also see his most recent set design for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, running now at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

 

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's new Fellowship program will award a Performing Arts Fellowship in 2016 and a Creative Writing Fellowship in 2017.
