Learn More About Artist June Kershaw!

June Kershaw first started making jewelry 45 years ago when she was working for VISTA organizing a craft cooperative on the Cape for the Community Action Committee. She met a jeweler and was intrigued by the miniature tools. He showed her how to make a few beginner's pieces and helped her buy her first tools. She was fascinated by the craft and has been studying metal techniques and making jewelry ever since.

June studied at Boston University's Program in Artistanry and the Penland School in North Carolina. She is a long time member of the Artisans Guild of Cape Cod and the Society of Cape Cod Craftsman. For many years she showed her work at craft fairs up and down the Cape, though now she focuses on managing the Collections Gallery on Jarves Street and keeping her display cases filled with a variety of her beautiful work.

She loves to use a variety semi-precious stones in her sterling silver and 14K gold fill jewelry. Her work has a distinctive classic style with antique influences. Currently she is exploring the chain maille technique which involves using hundreds of tiny metal rings to form complicated patterns in different metals. Her new pieces incorporate semi-precious stones, silver, 14K gold fill and bronze for a stunning multi-colored look.

June has been a member of the Collections Gallery since it opened as Collections Unlimited on Route 6a in East Sandwich 22 years ago. Collections has been in the village for four years now and is the only craft gallery of local artisans in the Glasstown Cultural District.

Collections Gallery is located at 23 Jarves Street, Sandwich. Info: 508-833-0039 / collectionsgallery.com/ArtistJuneKershaw

Together We Grow: 15 Years, 15 Towns, 15 Trees Poster Series

Together We Grow: 15 Years, 15 Towns, 15 Trees is a 15 year anniversary poster series and community service project created by local artist Randall Zmed of 3KOI Collective on display at the Cape Cod National Seashore's Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham.

The series was made in honor of the contributions and partnerships that have formed and flourished between AmeriCorps Cape Cod, Barnstable County and the 15 towns that comprise the Cape Cod community. The 15 posters are symbolic of 15 trees that were planted for Arbor Day 2014 as part of an AmeriCorps Cape Cod service event and signify 15 years of the program's history in this region. The significance of this project will be felt 15 years into the future by decreasing the community's carbon footprint by an estimated 10,800 lbs. These trees will sequester more than 5 tons of Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere helping Barnstable County in its efforts to become a more sustainable community.

Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at 50 Nauset Road, Eastham. Open 9 am - 4:30 pm. Info: 508-255-3421 / contact Ashley Look with any questions regarding the exhibit at [email protected]

The production will be set outdoors in the stone atrium of the Church of the Transfiguration, a modern expression of an ancient basilican style of architecture. Surrounded by pillars of fire, the open night air, and the nearby ocean, Julius Caesar takes on a powerful, elemental quality that evokes the timelessness of the human condition.
