Envy Transformed (detail)
by Beth Minear

Salvatore Del Deo: Faces and Figures 1969-2012, now - March 9, with a Gallery Talk by the artist on February 27, 2pm: This Spring marks the completion of artist Salvatore Del Deo's sixth decade as a year-round Provincetown resident, where he has repeatedly played a major leadership role in the town's art community. For all this time he's masterfully painted virtually every aspect of his environs at the Cape's end, including dunes, wharves, fish and lighthouses. But his portraits and figurative works are especially compelling.

All About sEVEn: A Multimedia Exhibit by 49 Cape Women Artists, February 14 - March 30 with an opening reception on March 1, 3 - 5 pm: Many people consider seven a lucky - or even magical - number. There are seven days in the week, seven continents, seven notes in the musical scale and seven colors in the rainbow. This exhibition will explore seven themes related to the number seven, each as interpreted by seven female artists - for a grand total of 49 participants! Each group of seven artists chose their own theme, with most eschewing the more obvious options. The themes they elected to pursue are as follows: Spectrum, Elements, Pleiades, Seven Deadly Sins...?, Intentions, Seven Generations, and Formal 7.

Pocketful of Posies: A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes, Salley Mavor - Nursery Rhymes as Fabric Art, now - February 16. The artwork of Pocketful of Posies was made from a variety of materials, all sewn together with different stitching techniques on naturally dyed wool felt. Each piece was photographed and printed onto the pages of the book, and the collection was made over a three year period. Salley has been developing this art form for the past thirty years and illustrating children's books for twenty years.

Mikhail Zakin: Salt Glazed Pottery, now - March 9: New Jersey potter Mikhail Zakin taught ceramics at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill from its inception in the early 1970s until 12 days before she passed on September 9, 2012. Ninety-two years old at the time, she was anticipating her salt-glazes pottery at the CCMOA this winter. The show will go on as scheduled, serving as a testament to the creativity of an exceptionally vibrant woman.
