The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE) invites you to the 6th International Fire Ecology and Management Congress in San Antonio, Texas, USA, Nov. 16-20, 2015. This Fire Congress is the sixth in a series that AFE has hosted every third year since 2000.  About our Fire Congress Events:
  • Largest, most comprehensive meeting on research and management of wildland fire globally
  • Unparalleled exposure to the complexity, breadth, and depth of the field of wildland fire.
  • Respectful, inclusive forum for a diverse range of topics and opinions.
  • Share with, learn from, and be inspired by fellow attendees from around the world.
The theme of this event is "Advancing Ecology in Fire Management." We continue to make progress in the development and dissemination of new information. Our challenge is to continue to bridge the ecology of fire with fire management, and facilitate more collaboration among researchers, educators and managers. The opportunity to meet with each other face-to-face in a conference setting is invaluable to meeting this challenge.

Special Sessions Deadline is around the corner!
Special Sessions are opportunities for individuals to organize their own panels on the topic of their choosing.  Organizers determine the topic, choose speakers on that topic, and can even plan the order of speakers.  There can be between 4-19 slots in a Special Session, and this can include a slot for Q&A or discussion.  The number of Special Sessions is limited, so organizers are encouraged to submit their proposals early.  We are very interested in international proposals.

Suggested Topics for Workshops, Special Sessions, and Presentations

Fire Ecology  *  Fire Management  *  Fire Research  *  Climate Change

Human Dimensions of Fire  *  Global/International Fire  *  Case Studies
