Happy New Year!

If your schedule is anything like mine, I know your year is off to a busy start and your to-do list is growing daily. Perhaps you are working on your resolutions for 2018 or have already accomplished or given up on some. If your resolutions include enriching your fundraising career in some way, I encourage you to take an active role in your Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Detroit Chapter (AFP-GDC).

Members who become involved with chapter committees find their AFP memberships more fulfilling, and that the benefits go far beyond continuing education. Committee work offers experience and develops skills that can enhance your current role and prepare you for your next one. The relationships formed provide an invaluable source of expertise, support, encouragement, and sometimes friendship.

I am excited to be starting my term as the AFP-GDC president, and thank our Immediate Past President Paul Miller for his exemplary leadership over the past two years. I would also like to acknowledge outgoing 2017 board members Paula Brown, Kelly Conway, Tanya Griffith and Dan Jenuwine for their dedicated service and commitment to the chapter. Each of them chaired a committee and contributed their vast and unique talents to help make the chapter the resource for fundraising professionals in metro-Detroit.

We have ten returning board members and ten brand new board members eager to shape the chapter over the next year. Make your voice heard and explore committee opportunities by contacting the committee chairs listed here. There are key roles available in several areas, particularly those in support of the National Philanthropy Day Dinner, Sponsorship, Marketing and Communications, Membership, and Ethics committees. Feel free to reach out to me as well!

Regards,

Tricia Brosnahan, CFRE
President, AFP Greater Detroit Chapter
