AFP Vancouver Island is considering offering the Fundamentals of Fundraising on October 3-4, however a minimum number of registrants is required. If you are interested in taking this course, please contact Monica Powell at [email protected]

Following lunch and official business, our keynote speaker, Rory Green will give her award winning presentation Conversations That Change the World: How to Talk to Your Donors

To help our donors make an impact, we must understand them: their history, their interests and their passions. To understand our donors we need to converse, share and listen. Drawing on her experiences as a major gifts fundraiser, Rory Green will provide theoretical and practical tools for connecting and conversing more deeply with donors and prospects. This presentation will focus on the ingredients of a conversation and how to nurture them, through listening, respect and asking the right questions.

Registration opening soon.

Just as my first year of fundraising comes to a close, I have realized I fundraise for the stories. Stories from the 91 year old naturalist who still loves his Sunday walks through the park. Or the 6 year old girl who just cannot wait to tell her tale about the blue slug she saw in the forest. It is so inspiring to hear from our supporters about their passion and excitement for nature, expressing such appreciation for the work that we do. I am excited to see what kind of stories this next year of fundraising will bring.
