EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Schedule for 2014

The 2014 slate of exciting educational opportunities has been finalized. A full list of the year's events is available on our website here.

On January 28th Vancouver Island fundraising professionals met at the Red Cross for the AFP webinar Inbound Marketing: the Latest Techniques to Attract More Donors, Volunteers and More. The session offered some great straight forward tips and tricks for driving traffic to websites. For organizations that don't have an online marketing professional on staff it was wonderful to hear all the small (and relatively easy) things small non profits can do to greatly increase their web presence. The presenter, Allan Pressel also offered an hour of website and social media analysis for ever attendee - definitely an offer worth taking him up on!

The next AFP webinar, Firing Lousy Board Members - And Helping the Others Succeed is coming up on February 27th at the Victoria Foundation Boardroom. The webinar will begin at 10am and will be followed by a chance to network with other attendees and discuss the lessons learned. Hope to see you there!
MENTORSHIP PROGRAM UPDATE

By Diane Lloyd, Program Facilitator

The good news is you still have time to apply for the 2014 Mentorship program as a Mentee or Mentor!

On February 6th the 2013 Mentorship Program pairs came together to celebrate their year together and spent time reflecting on what they learned about fundraising, what they learned about themselves personally and acknowledging their partners. This was a powerful exercise and a wonderful opportunity to witness the connections, the diversity of learning and the uniqueness of each pair. As a facilitator of this process, I am in awe of the commitment from both Mentors and Mentees to this partnership, and to the profession of fundraising. We truly operate within a uniquely supportive sector and the volunteer commitment of our Mentors demonstrates this in spades.

Thank you to everyone who participated so actively in 2013 and I hope our Mentors will be back for 2014. Please send in your applications by February 21st, 2014 and we will "make our matches before the end of February. Our orientation event will take place before the AGM on Thursday, March 6th 2014. Details to follow, but mark your calendars now!

For more information about the Mentorship Program, or if you have any questions please contact Diane at [email protected] or call her at 250-590-3682.
