These meeting are held on the first Wednesday of every month in the Hillside Mall Food Court near the Juice Bar.

The purpose of these meetings is to discuss local fundraising concerns, to network and meet people that will enrich our efforts and energy for fundraising and to bring new and potential Island AFP members together.

Are you playing fast and loose with donor lists? With only 51% of professionals staying in the same job for more than 2 years, frequently changing jobs is no longer considered career suicide. But working in the fundraising profession, the job-hopping trend brings up some ethical challenges, and can lead you into murky territory. When normal means moving from employer to employer, from database to database, and from one donor list to another, how do you address the resulting moral dilemmas? You wouldn't steal money from your employer, but what about bringing your donor list when you change jobs? Taking your list with you to a new employer might be a common practice, but that doesn't make it the right thing to do.
 
Your personal ethics, your moral code, and your career decision-making stance- these are the guideposts that will make or break your career. In this session, we'll suggest ethical ways to manage a career move in the fundraising field, and help you identify morally sound strategies for building a successful relationship with your new employer.

Pearson College is pleased to announce two new members to our Advancement team this month: Christine O'Keefe and Esther Jang. Christine is in the role of Gift Processing and Records Management Coordinator and comes to us with more than 10 years' experience in the field. Most recently Christine worked with the Conservatory of Music, and brings significant experience with her from the BC Cancer Foundation and the Victoria Hospital's Foundation as well. Esther is in the role of Senior Development Officer based in Vancouver, working with donors in the lower mainland, Alberta and the west coast of the USA. She comes to the College with many years of experience in major gifts and capital campaign fundraising through her consulting work as well as from UBC and the BC Children's Hospital.

Annual Giving Coordinator - University of Victoria
Reporting to the Annual Giving Manager, the Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination of the UVic Student Calling Program and assists in the implementation of other Annual Giving fundraising programs. Working with the Annual Giving Manager and other members of the Alumni and Development team, the Coordinator implements initiatives that increase annual support for the University from all constituent groups.
