Associates: BDCS Study Group

The AIA BDCS study group will start on February 17th at 6:30pm at Starbucks on East Blvd. 

 

Anyone interested in joining should email Taylor Milner at [email protected]

 

Taylor can provide information for study materials and etc.

 

Currently the study group meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm. The location is subject to change based on group size but is currently held at the Starbucks on East Blvd.

Emerging Professionals: Private tour of the current Bechtler Museum of Modern Art Exhibit "British Invasion"

Thursday, February 12 | 5:30 p.m.

Interested in learning more about Modern Art? Join the AIA YAF in a private guided tour of the current exhibit at the Bechtler. "British Invasion" is a representation of British art found principally in the Bechtler collection from the 1950s through the 1970s. The works include prints, drawings, sculpture and paintings. This tour will be led and narrated by a Becthler docent who will introduce the collection and explain some of the history and significance of the artists and their art. This will be followed up by a happy hour afterwards!

Join us for Part 2 of the award winning film Urbanized; Part 1 at January's Civic By Design Forum generated lively discussion. Urbanized is a feature-length documentary about the design of cities, which looks at the issues and strategies behind urban design and features some of the world's foremost architects, planners, policymakers, builders, and thinkers. Prefabrication Techniques within the Construction Industry

By combining Lean Construction Practices and Offsite Prefabrication, presenters Messer Construction, Kirlin Carolinas, and Pivotek will walk us through the technology, techniques, and equipment they are using to accelerate project schedules, to increase the quality of the finished product, to reduce construction costs, and to enhance workers' safety.  The presentation will focus on real world case studies to demonstrate how the use of prefabrication can enhance the success of almost any project.

$5,000 Student Scholarship Application Released
2015 a/e ProNet David W. Lakamp AIA Scholarship Now Accepting Applications 

This scholarship was initiated in 1990 by a/e ProNet, a group of insurance professionals providing risk management services to architects and engineers. In 1999, the scholarship was renamed for David W. Lakamp. Mr. Lakamp was a founder of a/e ProNet and a trusted advisor to the profession. He left behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity that set new standards in the field of insurance services. Two students, who best demonstrate strong interest in practice and risk management, will each receive a $5,000 award. 

 

Eligible applicants must demonstrate an interest/or concentration in practice or risk management.
