2016 State Legislative Session Ends

The 2016 session of the Indiana General Assembly concluded on March 10. Of the 831 bills filed by legislators, just over 220 were passed during this short, non-budget session.
Blake Wagner, AIA testify in the House Select Committee on Government Reduction.

AIA Indiana was busy with bills concerning historic preservation, streamlining the Department of Health plan review process, and school design issues. Thankfully, no serious harm was done to our profession even though negative proposals were introduced. Also, AIA Indiana was able to pass proactive legislation that provides positive additions to state law.

AIA Public Awareness Campaign

On February 29, the AIA launched a national PR push that will run on cable news outlets for sixteen weeks during the political primary coverage. The commercial will air in primetime during coverage of key primaries on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. There will also be spots running on Hulu programming from March until the end of May.

The theme is a continuation of the "Look Up" campaign that aims to showcase the correlation between design and how people interact with the spaces around them and to generate greater awareness for the impact that architects have on spaces that are used on an everyday basis.

AIA staff and volunteer leadership worked in conjunction with The Purpose Institute, LOS YORK, CSpence Group and GSD&M for the creative elements of the commercial and the orchestration of the overall public awareness campaign. The campaign itself is also supported on social media with the hashtag, "#ilookup." Click here to view the commercial.
