Congrats to DELV Design - Charrette Venture Group Architecture Business Plan Competition Winners!
DELV Design, an architecture, interior design, and visioning firm beat out firms from each coast to bring home the top prize in the 2015 Architecture Business Plan Competition. The competition, put on by Charrette Venture Group to promote entrepreneurism and best practices in the industry, received over 100 entries from 29 states and three Canadian provinces. "The level of innovation and visioning was impressive," said Todd L. Reding, Chief Operations Officer and Vice President for Investments (Charrette Venture Group).
"This big win is giving us a chance to shine the spotlight on the entrepreneurial activity of central Indiana and that gives us great pride," says Amanda Welu, DELV Design partner. The team, just five months into their start up, was by far the newest firm of the five finalists that were chosen to present their plan to the live jury on May 13, 2015 preceding the American Institute of Architects' annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia. The other four finalist firms were located in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and New Hampshire, all startups with 2 to 5 years under their belts.
"Our plan's heartbeat is one that will elevate not just our practice, but the architectural profession as a whole through the use of strategies that are historically nontraditional for our industry," describes architect and DELV Design partner, Jeremy Welu.
First prize for the Architecture Business Plan Competition was $10,000. Two other prizes in the amount of $2,500 were awarded for honorable mention.
"DELV at its core is all about helping organizations live out great stories and with this win, we'll be able to do more of that," shares architect and DELV partner Chris Lake. "Of course, it's also a fun page for our own story," Lake adds.
