2012 AIA Indianapolis Home Tour
What homes do you want to see in 2012 Architects' Home Tour?
AIA Indianapolis is taking applications through March 30 for homes to be featured on the fall tour
If you live in, have designed or have remodeled a home and want to show it off (and maybe even get a little business), consider submitting it for the 2012 Architects' Home Tour, scheduled for Sept. 22-23. We're looking for homes designed by architects located within the Indy metro area that are:
- Historic homes that offer architectural significance
- New homes completed no later than June 30
- Renovated or remodeled homes
The popular biennial Architects' Home Tour is a chance for architects to showcase their work, but also to help educate the public about the value of working with an architect, whether it's for a home design, business design or a renovation.
To submit a home you own or designed for the tour, email mbeebe@rqaw.com or call 317.815.7200 x1130 with the following information: architect's contact info; homeowner's name; address of home; brief description of why home should be considered; year built; at least one photo.

2012 AIA Grassroots - March 7-10, 2012
(L-R) Mark Beebe, AIA, Deb Kunce, AIA, Chris Gerrity, Assoc. AIA, Sarah Hempstead, AIA, Sanford Garner, AIA, Scott Pannicke, AIA, and Eric Rowland, AIA.
AIA Indianapolis recently visited with members and staff of the United States Congress in Washington, DC. This year, the AIA Indianapolis delegation met with staff members from Congressman Andrew Carson, Senator Richard Lugar, and Senator Dan Coats offices. AIA Indianapolis members discussed AIA's ambitious four-point 2012 legislative agenda - the AIA's "Plan for Economic Recovery" which focuses exclusively on creating jobs in the hard-hit design and construction industries. The work architects provide to our industry accounts for one in nine dollars of U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Every $1 million invested in building design and construction yields 28.5 full-time jobs.
Rest stop on Capitol Hill. (L-R) Sanford Garner, AIA, Eric Rowland, AIA, Mark Beebe, AIA, Chris Gerrity, AIA, Scott Pannicke, AIA, and Sarah Hempstead, AIA.
Here's a summary of what AIA Indianapolis urged Congress to do in 2012: Remove Barriers to Private Sector Lending; Save Energy, Create Jobs; Help Small Firms Grow and Thrive; Revitalize America's Neighborhoods/Pass a Transportation Bill.
Read more about these agenda items here.
