President's Message:
|
I wanted to reach out to you and explain why there has been a lack of information from AIA National. I want to acknowledge your frustration and confusion at not having clear direction, and I sincerely apologize. The Repositioning is a work in progress, and we are all-volunteers and staff-learning as we go. I realize that the pace of change is much slower than the desire for it, but I ask for your patience as we find our way. "Never before have we needed this level of bold, visionary leadership to inspire architects to work together and build a better world for all people-through architecture." The time is now to change the way we think and behave in order to shape our future. Answer this question: "What will I personally or professionally change to support our profession?" What does that mean to you; what can you change (how you interact with your colleagues, address your client needs or participate in your community) and how would you encourage others to commit to taking action? We can start by attending the Legislative Day on March 18th in Lansing. I encourage you to take an emerging professional with you. This is one of the benefits we have available to get our voice heard as a group of merit and influence. Lastly, we are working with a consultant, paid for by a grant Cathy applied for from National, to set forth a plan to improve component services. We will be reaching out to our Chapter leaders in the next few months to start a dialog on what it takes to do exactly that. It matches one of our four Strategic Plan 2020 goals, "Nurture our Chapters." Regards, Jeffrey S. Ferweda, AIA

AIAMI / MAF Speakers Bureau: Call for Presentations
|
AIA Michigan and the MAF want to get the word out about the benefits architects provide to their communities. To accomplish this we are gathering passionate speakers to create the Speakers Bureau which, in conjunction with our local chapters, will bring exciting, informative presentations to organizations around the state. This is a great opportunity for our members to raise awareness about their firm's work and their passion while advocating for the architectural profession.
Applications are being accepted. Submit your application to [email protected] with a subject line that includes " Speakers Bureau" to be considered. If you are a member in good standing and would like to join the Speakers Bureau, please review the Call for Presentations and the Speaker Questionnaire.
Please visit the Speakers Bureau webpage and if you have any questions, contact the Speakers Bureau Task Force:
