Happy Monday!
Cathy Headshot
Please note that the AIAMI office is without phone service at this time.  We are trying to have this corrected.  You can contact us by emailing [email protected] for general questions, [email protected] and [email protected] and we will return your email ASAP.  We hope to have this problem solved within a few days.

I hope you are enjoying this fall weather.  Just a reminder that the online and mail in ballot voting has ended for the bylaws.  If you wish to cast a vote you must now attend in person on Friday at 2:00p.m. at the Annual Meeting held at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit.  We will also have free continuing education events in the morning.  Please check out our website at www.aiami.com to register.

Have a great week and remember to  contact me  anytime with your ideas or if you would like to join a committee!

Government Affairs Committee: Note to Firms offering Architect Services

The following important language is from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs regarding Professional Licensing for Architects in Michigan. It is relatively new and can be found on the State's Website, and we encourage all Michigan Architects to follow through immediately as noted:

Firms Offering Architect Services

In order to obtain approval from the Department under MCL 339.2010(2) please send an email to [email protected] that contains the following:
* Name of the firm seeking approval
* Address of the firm
* Name of the person submitting the request
* A certification stating the following:
"2/3 of the principals of <<YOUR FIRM NAME>> are licensed under Article 20 of the Occupational Code and the conduct of the firm and its principals complies with the law and rules promulgated by the Department."

Design Perspectives

Over the course of the last year, AIA Michigan members have begun to produce articles that have a point of view about matters of interest to our many communities. These Design Perspectives have been graciously published on our behalf by partnering publications, and they are now reproduced here in our website section of the same name, Design Perspectives, for you our readers. Feel free to use these articles and insights to help support and promote the design profession. From the AIA Michigan website, simply click on the Design Perspectives heading in the box on the left. The articles can be found there for your edification. Thanks to our authors. Let us know if you'd like to contribute too.
