Happy Monday!
Cathy Headshot
Hope everyone caught a glimpse of last night's lunar eclipse!

We've reformatted the events section of the Monday Minutes to feature the Chapter events.  Keep an eye out for the newsletter this week.

The Annual Meeting and CES Seminars will be October 16.  Click here for more information!   An Annual Meeting Bylaws Ballot was sent out last week to the entire membership as well as an email with an electronic option to vote. You may also vote in person on October 16th.  If you are a Chapter Leader attending the AIA Michigan Leadership Retreat you must return the registration form that was emailed to you.  If you would like to attend please contact evelyn@aiami.com for a registration form.

Have a great week and remember to  contact me  anytime with your ideas or if you would like to join a committee!

Government Affairs Committee: Note to Firms offering Architect Services

The following important language is from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs regarding Professional Licensing for Architects in Michigan. It is relatively new and can be found on the State's Website, and we encourage all Michigan Architects to follow through immediately as noted:

Firms Offering Architect Services

In order to obtain approval from the Department under MCL 339.2010(2) please send an email to BPLHelp@michigan.gov that contains the following:
* Name of the firm seeking approval
* Address of the firm
* Name of the person submitting the request
* A certification stating the following:
"2/3 of the principals of <<YOUR FIRM NAME>> are licensed under Article 20 of the Occupational Code and the conduct of the firm and its principals complies with the law and rules promulgated by the Department."

Design Perspectives

Over the course of the last year, AIA Michigan members have begun to produce articles that have a point of view about matters of interest to our many communities. These Design Perspectives have been graciously published on our behalf by partnering publications, and they are now reproduced here in our website section of the same name, Design Perspectives, for you our readers. Feel free to use these articles and insights to help support and promote the design profession. From the AIA Michigan website, simply click on the Design Perspectives heading in the box on the left. The articles can be found there for your edification. Thanks to our authors. Let us know if you'd like to contribute too.
