Women in Architecture Tomorrow!!
What:  Tour of the recently renovated Planned Parenthood Central Oklahoma City Clinic
 
When:  Tuesday, May 22, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
 
Where:   619 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City
 
Parking:  Street parking is available along NW 23rd St and in lots to the west and north of the facility.  Please be aware that some spaces may be marked off-limits.

Deborah Richards, AIA of Inter-Projects will lead the tour.
 
Inter-Projects Architecture, PLLC is an architecture firm dedicated to the intersection of building and experimental research with offices New York City and Oklahoma City.  Lead by Zachary Colbert and Deborah Richards, the studio combines research and practice between these two cities and across many scales.  The firm's cloud-based approach to practice distributes the firm's resources and personnel within an adaptable network of players, facilities and technology allowing us to develop master planning strategies, academic research trajectories, buildings, interiors, furniture and sculptures simultaneously within a cohesive process and across multiple scales.

Deborah Richards, AIA is a licensed architect in New York and Oklahoma.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University where she was awarded a William Kinne Fellowship.  She received the 2016 AIA Oklahoma Young Professional Achievement Honor Award.  She teaches architecture studio and computational design and fabrication seminars at the University of Oklahoma.  She was the 2016 Bruce Goff Chair of Creative Architecture at the University of Oklahoma.  Prior to founding Inter-Projects Architecture, Deborah worked at the offices of Urbanus in Beijing, WORKac in New York City, and Fitzsimmons Architects in Oklahoma City.

AIACOC June Luncheon: Developer's Showcase!
Join us for our fourth annual "Developer's Showcase" at which featured speakers will present some of their recent and upcoming projects, and describe the role that design plays in their development work.
 
The AIA June Luncheon will take place on Thursday, June 14, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at OSU-OKC in the Student Center building on the 3rd floor.
 
Our featured speakers are:
 
Kayla Baker , managing partner at Northline Development, led the largest single expansion of modern-style housing in Midtown with The Dwellings at SoSA, a development of 14 townhomes along NW 6 just east of Classen Boulevard. Northline has also developed many other new, contemporary homes in the area of NW 7 and Shartel, and is currently renovating a former service station into a mix of restaurants and retail.
 
Brandon and Jennifer Rader , owners of Rader Building Company, have a passion for development. Jennifer brings a background and education in interior design and Brandon in real estate brokerage and homebuilding. They are currently developing "The Campbell" in Edmond's downtown urban district, which will be comprised of two multi-story buildings containing restaurant, retail, apartments, and office space.
 
Chris Fleming has been a partner in REHCO, LLC since 2008 after serving as its Executive Vice President since 2006. REHCO, LLC is a family office founded by Bob Howard. With partners Howard, Mickey Clagg, and Fleming, REHCO and its affiliates have invested in dozens of companies across diverse industries and geographies. More than half of REHCO's investments relate to commercial real estate development, redevelopment, placemaking, and property management with Midtown Renaissance being REHCO's most visible portfolio company.

Plan to join us on Thursday, June 14th.  Lunch is free for our AIA, Associate AIA and Allied Members.  The cost for nonmembers is $25.  The deadline to register is noon on Friday, June 8, 2018.




AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards
The AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards showcase the best of built work by members of AIA Central Oklahoma. Entrants must be members of The American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter. 

Earlier this year, AIA Central Oklahoma put together a Design Awards Task Force to review our Design Award categories, jury criteria, and judging criteria. Below you will notice new categories and a more defined judging criteria. One new category is our specialty category. Each cycle we will be rotating a specialty category to help feature various project types. This year our specialty category is Healthcare.

Join us for the 2018 AIA Kickball Tournament set for Saturday June 9th!

9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
PCAA Fields

Cost:
$300 per team
$25 spectator food / beverage wristband

Tournament Information: 

-Kickball Team consists of 12 players

-Teams can add 3 additional players for $75

-Must be 18 to play on a team

-Teams must have at least 3 AIA, Associate AIA or Allied Members of AIACOC on the team or be an AIACOC member firm / company

-Each team must have at least 3 women

-Teams are responsible for their own shirts but colors must be verified with AIACOC & its first come first served.

-Spectators attend free (but food and drink is not included)

-If spectators would like food and beverage, a spectator wristband can be purchased for $25.  Spectator wristbands must be purchased in advance.

OSU New Graduate Certificate in Integrative Design of the Building Envelope


The OSU School of Architecture is pleased to offer a new Graduate Certificate in Integrative Design of the Building Envelope, a 12 credit hour endeavor allowing architects to increase their skills and knowledge in the interdisciplinary technical realm of architecture.  See the attached document, and contact Dr. Tom Spector ( tom.spector@okstate.edu) for more information.

The OSU School of Architecture is empowering

advancements in performative design and construction.
New materials, technologies, and methods for
evaluating building envelope performance are a rich
area for innovation and specialization.

The Graduate Certificate in Integrative Design of the
Building Envelope is a degree now offered by the
School as an opportunity for current students, recent
graduates, and mid-career professionals to refine their
knowledge and skill set toward the future of
performative analysis and design. This program is
geared for busy students and professionals, consisting
of twelve credit hours from a diverse selection of
alternative courses.

The customizable program consists of coursework in
computational design, sustainability, construction,
systems, finance, and other advanced studies. We

Oklahoma State University School of Architecture
Graduate Certificate in Integrative Design of the Building Envelope

Today's clients demand high-performance building envelope
design supported by sophisticated research methodologies and
hard data. The graduate certificate in integrative design provides
both students and practicing professionals a directed study of
new tools and technologies to provide this value-added service.
The interdisciplinary nature of this program ensures students will
be able to apply knowledge from allied disciplines.

The certificate is 12 hours, and must include one of the following courses (3 credit hours maximum):

ARCH 4253 Computational Foundations/Computer Applications in Architecture III

ARCH 4233 Sustainable Design in Architecture

ARCH 4263 Comprehensive Design Seminar

MAE 4263 Energy Conversion Systems

MAE 4703 Design of Indoor Environmental Systems

MAE 4713 Thermal Systems Design, Simulation and Optimization

CMT 4283 Business Practices for Construction

MET 4413 Ground Source Heat Pump Systems

Students choose two courses, or six credit hours, from the following list of courses:
