The purpose of the AIA Oklahoma Awards of Excellence Program is to increase the public awareness of architecture by recognizing outstanding projects, their architects and clients, to increase the public and client demand for quality design and to encourage the profession to pursue the highest standards of design.

  • Only AIA Oklahoma members in good standing may enter the Awards of Excellence Program. 
  • Eligible projects include any project built anywhere in the world and designed by an AIA architect licensed to practice in Oklahoma at the time of the project's completion. 
  • Projects must have been completed after January 1, 2012, and prior to the deadline for receipt of submissions. 
  • An individual or firm may submit up to eight entries for which authorship can be supported. 
  • Previously honored projects in local Chapter design awards programs are eligible. 
  • Projects that have previously received regional or national AIA awards are not eligible.  
  • Entry forms + fees submitted:   Monday, June 26, 2017, 5:00 PM CDT
  • Final submissions due: Monday, August 1, 2017, 5:00 PM CDT
  • Design awards program/ceremony:  Friday, October 20, 2017 in Bartlesville,Oklahoma
An entry fee of $150 is required for each project submitted.  Entrants may complete an entry form and pay by credit card HERE  or should complete this entry form and send it with a check payable to:  AIA Oklahoma, P.O. Box 2312, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.  No Refunds.

The reception, banquet and awards ceremony will be held on Friday, October 20th in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in conjunction with the AIA Oklahoma Conference on Architecture.  The award banquet is an additional cost.  

The jury is comprised of three respected architects, from the Portland, Oregon area.  
The method of selection and number of awards presented shall be at the discretion of the 2017 AIA Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards Jury.
Entrants will be receive detailed submission requirements no later than Friday, June 30th. 
All entries must include:
  • A Power Point presentation derived from a template provided by AIA Oklahoma for each entrant to follow.  The template includes up to 10 slides depicting the project in a minimum of four photographs, two drawings and one text slide. 
  • Identification forms, which will be provided to entrants in Word format.
  • Up to six high resolution project images (300 dpi, 8X10 size), a selection of which may be used during the Awards Ceremony and/or for publication and publicity.
It will be the entrant's responsibility to ensure that submissions are cleared for release by AIA Oklahoma. Material submitted should not be restricted against publication in connection with the AIA Oklahoma Design Awards Program and any publicity thereafter.
