October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink ribbons marking a special focus on this important public health issue. Cancer prevention research continues to evaluate the effectiveness of cancer screening guidelines and develop new interventions to address disparities in breast cancer-related illness and death.  AJPM publishes a wide diversity of articles on breast cancer screening, prevention, diagnosis, and risk reduction, and our readers will find the following articles in recent issues:

Please join the AJPM editorial office in welcoming the newest members of our editorial board: Sandro Galea, MD, MPH, DrPH and Karen Glanz, PhD, MPH .

Dr. Galea is the Robert A. Knox Professor and Dean at the Boston University School of Public Health. He has expertise in social production of health of urban populations, focusing on the causes of brain disorders, particularly common mood-anxiety disorders and substance abuse. 

Dr. Glanz is the George A. Weiss University Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She has expertise in healthy eating, obesity prevention, cancer prevention and control, chronic disease management and control, reducing health disparities, and health communication technologies.

Members of the AJPM editorial board perform myriad services for the journal including peer reviewing, recommending reviewers in their areas of expertise, serving as guest editors for supplements and themes, and acting as ambassadors for the journal. Our editorial board members are key to helping AJPM stay at the forefront of preventive medicine and public health .
