This is our big Fall Issue, so it's packed full of new items and classes we have in store for you!

Customers love the new vibrant colors of BloomingYarns, so if you haven't seen them, here's a preview. 


New Yarns are coming!
We are excited to finally have Zen Garden yarns in the shop.  We are bringing in Serenity 20, a superwash merino/cashmere/nylon blend in fingering weight--a great yarn for making shawls and socks!  We have all 12 new colors for 2014 coming.


Also new to the shop from Manos del Uruguay are Maxima, 100% single-ply merino in worsted weight and Alegria, a sock yarn in merino/polymide blend.  As with all Manos yarns, these yarns are 100% Fair Trade Certified.

Color Packs:
 
We have several new color packs from Mountain Colors 
with great pattern support.  These kits come in worsted, sport and fingering weights and contain several small skeins of same type yarns (Twizzle, River Wash Sport & Crazyfoot) in complimentary colors.  It's an economical and fun way to add colors to your projects.  Also new to the Mountain Colors line are Winter Silk, worsted weight 50/50 merino/silk blend, and River Wash Sport, sportweight 100% SW merino.

Additionally, new Wonderland Yarn mini-skein packs by Frabjous Fibers are also coming in sport  and worsted weights, with pattern support to make shawls & cowls, as well as other projects.

These and other patterns are available thru Ravelry and may be purchased in the shop thru Ravelry's in-store pattern program for the same price as online.  We'll search for the pattern and have it emailed to you and saved in your Ravelry account for your convenience.  We hope you utilize this service to support your LYS. 

 

Weaving Special:  Weave kitchen towels for only $5.00/towel. 
Our loom is dressed with cotton yarn in cream and crimson colors and ready to weave, so all you have to do is start weaving to make handwoven towels for your home or for gift-giving.  Please call to schedule weaving time. 
 

 


SPECIAL GROUP CLASSES: 
Open Studio Weaving:
  Starting in September, our weaving studio will be open and staffed by a weaving assistant on Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for those needing additional weaving time for classes and for weavers who want to rent looms for independent projects.  Please call ahead to rent looms. 
      
Monthly Lace Knitting Group: 
If you enjoy knitting lace or want to get started, join this group on first Tuesdays of each month, 6:00-7:30 pm.  Bring your project in progress or start a new one with the help of our talented lace instructor. 
Fee:  $30/for 3 sessions - please call to sign up. 




Afghan Knitting Series:
  Knit an heirloom blanket or throw one square at a time.  Every other Saturdays, 11 am - 12 noon. 
Fee:  $5/session - advance registration required, no drop-ins 






We now have our own logo project bags for carrying your projects.  They are made of 100% certified organic cotton and come in a variety of printed colors.

PRIVATE LESSON - Our most popular class!

Take advantage of  one-on-one session with one of our expert instructors. You'll pick up the skills faster and get on with your project.  This is a great way to get the instruction you need to make a specific project.  Private lessons may be arranged for knitting, weaving, crocheting & spinning.
Fee: $20 for the first hour,
        $15/hour for additional hours

 Gather your friends to form a group and design your very own class.  We can create a special class for a minimum of 3 students that will focus on your group's specific skills and project interest. You could have a class based on learning new skills or making a specific project using knitting, weaving, spinning, crocheting or felting.  Call us to schedule.  Date & time to be arranged with instructor.
Fee:  $10/hour/person (3 or more) OR $15/hour/person (2 students) 
KNITTING 
BEGINNING KNITTING

Discover the joy of knitting and start creating handmade pieces for yourself or for gift-giving.  Learn how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, decrease & increase and make a scarf for your first project.
Fee: $55 (includes "Teach Yourself to Knit" book, bamboo needles, and a skein of yarn - over $20.00 value)

INTERMEDIATE KNITTING

This is a good follow-up class to Beginning Knitting or for anyone who needs to brush up on their knitting skills.  Learn how to read patterns, knit in the round, shaping, and other stitches to add texture to your knitting and more. Make a textured toque, classic tam or a project of your choice.
Fee:  $45

MONTHLY KNITTING LAB

First Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm 
This class is for intermediate students who want to try new techniques and further their skills. Start new projects with the support of an instructor while enjoying the company of other knitters.
Fee: $35/3 sessions (minimum of 3 students) - must have completed Intermediate Knitting; pre-registration is required.


CONTINENTAL KNITTING

Learn the technique of Continental method of knitting and speed up your knitting, and some say, with less strain.  This technique is also a good prepation for doing color work in your knitting.

KNIT FIX WORKSHOP - Learn how to fix your knitting mistakes

Saturday, 10/11, 1:00 - 2:30 pm 
Dropped, added, twisted, and split stitches--they're really no big deal!  This workshop will focus on problems that creep into your knitting and help you learn how to identify and fix them.  If you have a project in progress with a little "oops", bring it along.

KNITTING SOCKS ON MAGIC LOOP

Learn the Magic Loop technique of circular knitting and make socks toe up, one at a time, using one long circular needle.  Basic knitting skills required but no prior sock knitting experience is necessary.

Want to practice your two-handed color knitting? The December Stripes Hat will utilize both the Continental and English styles of knitting to create an even and well-tensioned Fair Isle pattern. You will also learn the Latvian Braid, which is an impressive technique used on the cuffs of many Fair Isle accessories.

SPINNING
SPINNING SAMPLER (using drop spindle and spinning wheel)

This 3-part class will introduce students to spinning on a drop spindle and treadle wheel.  Students will learn how to draft, spin and ply a beginner yarn that is perfect for felting, knitting or crochet. Students will have exclusive use of their assigned wheels and are expected to practice 2-4 hours in the shop between classes.  The instructor will assist students in choosing appropriate material to use in class.
Fee: $50  (includes use of shop's wheels)
WEAVING
LOOM WEAVING I & II

Saturdays, 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27 OR 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 10 am - 12 noon, plus a weekly 2-hour lab TBA 
Both beginners and seasoned weavers are welcome to this class, which is limited to 5 students.  Learn the fine craft of weaving from a master weaver.  Students will design, dress a loom, and weave a scarf using luscious yarns from Yarns Unlimited.   The looms will be available to work on during store hours and one evening during the week, so it is possible to finish more than one project if you weave outside of class times. Yarn extra.
Fee: $85 (includes exclusive use of loom & supplies during 4-week session)


OPEN STUDIO WEAVING

Thursdays, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Our weaving studio is open and staffed one evening per week. A weaving assistant will be on hand to answer questions and help with technical issues as you work through the weaving process. Studio is open to both students enrolled in Loom Weaving classes as part of the class and to weavers renting looms for independent projects.  Loom rental is based on availability and must be reserved in advance.   

Fee for loom rental:  $10/week or $30/month, includes access to loom during shop hours.  

 

 

INTRO TO RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING WORKSHOP

This table top, portable loom is so popular among novice and long-time weavers alike.  You can make a woven project in less than a day!  Learn how to dress the loom, weave a scarf, and finish it off.  Use our loom, bring your own, or purchase one at Yarns Unlimited.
