PARENTS PERSPECTIVE: Carroll Then & Now
Andrea Dinsmore Meals '87
Mother of Mary Kate '16, Leeanne '18 and Sean '20

"In 1987 when I was a senior at the newly combined, co-ed Carroll, it was in many ways similar to the school it is today. It’s still academically challenging for students who are gifted and work hard. It’s still a fun, social place where teenagers can build life-long friendships. It’s still a showcase for successful athletes. It’s still a popular outlet for those who are talented and interested in the performing arts. It still has a first class art program and numerous activities and clubs. Carroll really has something for everyone. Today, the halls are still filled with laughter and upbeat chatter and it even still smells the same!

If I were to compare my Carroll experience with my daughter’s, who is a recent graduate of the Class of 2016, the one overwhelming difference I have seen is the introduction of the Kairos Retreat."

ALUMNAE SPOTLIGHT:  Davina Utz '98
Owner, True & 12

What screams summer more than ice cream and vacation? Meet Davina Goldammer-Utz '98, a Carroll alumnae who turned her passion for ice cream and travel into a successful  ice cream business, True & 12 , in Munich Germany!

"My husband and I started to study ice cream because it was something we both loved – it’s something that most people love because it reminds you of summer and your childhood! We took classes on ice cream production all throughout Italy, Germany and the US and went years humbly planning our business in our spare time. At some point we just said, 'Ok, if we are going to do this, we need to dive in headfirst.' So we did."

CARROLL CARES – REMEMBERING YESTERDAY, INVESTING IN TOMORROW

With the final days of summer upon us, there are more than 1,000 Patriots preparing to return to the hallowed halls of Archbishop Carroll High School. Alums can relate to the excitement and opportunities that a new school year offers students, faculty, staff and leadership. Many of the programs, activities and widely held traditions have grown and developed throughout the years. As we take a few moments to reminisce about our own experiences at Carroll, consider making a contribution to welcome back our current Patriots and invest in the school’s continued commitment to excellence. Thank you!
