The Employment Training Panel (ETP) provides funding to employers to assist in upgrading the skills of their workers through training that leads to good paying, long-term jobs. The ETP was created in 1982 by the California State Legislature and is funded by California employers through a special payroll tax. The ETP is a funding agency, not a training agency. Businesses determine their own training needs. ETP staff and other participating AMP SoCal partners are available to assist in accessing funds and other aspects of participation. Learn more!

This event is for small and medium sized manufacturers engaged in research and development. The results of the workshop will be a blueprint for establishing R&D project clusters through the IMS program to share knowledge, provide broader solutions in less time, reduce research costs, and expand networks through building of domestic and international coalitions.

This SELACO event is designed to bring together employers and high-school students from the Career Technical Education track.  These are young women interested in the trades, logistics, manufacturing and engineering. Five different high school districts in the Southeast Los Angeles County area currently participate in the California Career Pathways project that creates exposure to these industries by way of company tours, presentations and events such as this.

The Industry Day will provide attendees with information on doing business with the City of Pasadena, NASA Centers, large businesses and government agencies. Although this event will highlight programs and services for the WOSB community, all businesses are welcome to attend. 
California Competes Tax Credit Workshop

Mayor Garcetti, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce are hosting a workshop on the California Competes Tax Credit. Small, medium, and large businesses are encouraged to attend the workshop and receive instructions on how to apply for this tax credit program. The next application period begins March 6, 2017.

CAMAC Brings Apprenticeship Opportunities to Southern California

The California Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Collaborative (CAMAC) is a partnership between industry, community colleges, ToolingU, and Goodwill Southern California. CAMAC is a US Department of Labor (DOL) registered apprenticeship that incorporates 16 occupations into a set of standards. The partners agree to the Pattern Standards of Apprenticeship and Goodwill acts as the administrative glue, coordinating activity and ensuring compliance to the program.

Grand Opening of USC Viterbi School of Engineering
Center for Advanced Manufacturing
A new state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) will open February 24 at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The 6,000 square foot center in downtown Los Angeles will bring together faculty from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering under one roof who have expertise in a variety of areas including, advanced manufacturing, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, the Internet of Things, human safe-robots, affordable 3D printing, and 4D printing. CAM will serve as the Southern California region node for a new Department of Defense-sponsored institute focused on robotic manufacturing.

The Strengthening Competitiveness Program is an initiative that matches University of Southern California expertise in business administration, accounting, engineering or law to provide solutions for your business. Program services are available to small and medium manufacturing businesses in the defense supply chain who have been negatively affected by defense cuts in the past three years. Businesses must be located in the counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, or San Diego.

The Air Force Space Command SMC - Space and Missile Systems Center posted a Request for Information FA8814-16-9-0001 for interest in establishing a consortium-managed "Other Transaction Agreement" (OTA) for prototyping space related requirements.
