AMPPE’s January advocacy efforts were focused on Parks Canada’s Let’s Talk Parks, Canada! initiative: the nationwide public consultation currently underway by Parks Canada to discuss the future of our National Parks and Historic Places. For the first time ever, all Canadians are being invited to participate in the Minister’s Round Table. This public consultation process runs until January 27th and gives Canadians a chance to voice their opinions on our nation’s system of national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas. Alongside this public consultation Parks Canada is hosting a series of invitation only stakeholder sessions across the country. On behalf of AMPPE and our Membership I traveled to both Calgary and Ottawa to attend two of these meetings.
