Dedicated to the development of the future stewards of U.S.-China relations
Join us Monday, October 1 at 5:30pm at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace for an engaging and timely discussion with Dr. Huang Ping, senior research professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). For those looking to understand Chinese perspectives on U.S.-China relations this is an event not to be missed.

Dr. Huang is a renowned intellectual and is considered one of the top American Studies experts in China, having formerly been the Director General of the Institute of American Studies at CASS. Dr. Huang is currently Director General of CASS' Institute of European Studies. With U.S.-China relations undergoing a period of significant stress, Dr. Huang will bring perspectives from China and discuss where the relationship is heading.

About Dr. Huang Ping:
Huang Ping (黄平) is a senior research professor and the Director General of the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He also serves as the President of Chinese Association of American Studies; Vice President of the China National Association of International Relations; Vice President of the China Association for Hong Kong and Macao Studies; Vice President of Chinese Association of World Politics Studies; Director of the CASS Center for World Politics Studies, as well as Board Member of the United Nation Research Institute of Social Development (UNRISD). Prof. Huang was the Deputy Director General, Institute of Sociology, CASS; Director General, Bureau of International Cooperation, CASS; Director General, Institute of American Studies, CASS (2006-2014); Vice President, International Social Science Council (ISSC); Vice President, International Institute of Sociology (II); and Vice Chairman, Management of Social Transformation (MOST, UNESCO).

Professor Huang has authored and co-authored many books including In Search for Survival: A Sociological Study of Rural Urban Migration (Yunnan Renmin, 1997); Unfinished Narratives (Sichuan Renmin, 1997); Experiences from Western China: Reports and Rethinking of Development and Poverty (SSAP, 2005); Misleading and Development (RUCP, 2006); and Our Times: Where China Today Comes from and Where is She going (CCTP, 2007). He is also the editor- in-chief of books including China Reflected (Arena Press, 2003), and China and Globalisation: Washington Consensus or Beijing Consensus? (SSAP, 2005). He has been on the editorial board in British Journal of Sociology, Current Sociology, Comparative Sociology, Global Social Policy, and Journal of Migration, etc.
He earned his Doctoral Degree in Sociology from the London School of Economics in 1991.
