A Message From Your Chapter President
October 2014

Becky

"I want to encourage you to consider volunteering ... Whether you have an hour a day or week or even just a couple days during the year, it can and will help. It is rewarding and humbling to consider that what we do, we do for all our members, with our members in mind. You can experience that, too! "

We want to hear from you!

There's still time to let the Education Committee know what CEUs you'd like to take in 2015! The survey closes on October 31, 2014, so please take a couple of minutes to answer these few multiple choice questions and help us help you get the courses you want in the locations that are most convenient for you!
Licensure Exams and Certifications
The recent agreement between the NCBTMB and the FSMTB

As of February 1, 2015 the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) will no longer provide licensure exams for Massage Therapy. Due to a recent agreement with the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) the MBLEx will now be the exam used throughout most of the country to qualify for licensure and hopefully bring about portability in the industry.

The NCBTMB has provided a  detailed FAQ on their website of what this decision means for Massage Therapists and the industry.

Exercise and Massage
Make massage part of your fitness plans

By combining your exercise routine with a massage therapy treatment, you will be able to train longer and harder and make the most of your workout. Not convinced? Research some of your favorite world-class athletes, and you're likely to see that a massage therapist is a key component of their strength and stamina routine.

Calling all Volunteers!
Communications Committee Chair Needed

AMTA-IL is looking for someone to lead our communications team. Some technical knowledge with website administration, newsletter development and disbursement, social media, advertising and good communications skills is recommended but not required. This opportunity has a time commitment of 2-3 hours a week.

Ezine Editor Needed

Would you like to put together our quarterly eZine and help out with our social media and other communication efforts? If you are detail-oriented and tech-savvy enough to  navigate around the back end of a website we could really benefit from your time and talents. This opportunity has a time commitment of 1-2 hours a week.

Communications Committee Members

We need members to assist and back up the Web Advisor, Ezine Editor, and the Social Media & E-blast teams. If you are interested in growing with our chapter and can donate 2-4 hours a month, this is the job for you!

If you are interested in volunteering for either of these positions, please contact Marva Wright at marvawrighttt@yahoo.com
AMTA 2014 National Convention Highlights
Our National Convention is a great place to get quality continuing education, network with peers, and learn about what is going on in the industry. This year's convention was held in the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado and we had an awesome time.

See what happened in Denver! and consider meeting up with us next year in Pittsburgh!
