A Message From Your Chapter President
July 2014

Becky

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. As the month of July nears its end, we come to the realization that the days are getting shorter and fall will soon be upon us. Let's take advantage of the remainder of this wonderful season while we still can.

September is just around the corner and is going to be an exciting month for our members. The AMTA-IL chapter would like for you to join us on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in hosting a cross-state cookout for the massage therapists in your area. You choose the location like a park pavilion or a large back yard and AMTA-IL will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers...

AMTA NEEDS YOU!
Volunteer opportunities available

The Illinois chapter of AMTA works only because of our AMAZING members and their desire to volunteer to further our profession. Did you know that there are lots of ways to be involved with your AMTA chapter? Our membership committee is here to help you find your fit within our chapter. We need more members to help with networking, communications, government relations, outreach and education. We want to serve our members in the best way possible. Who would be better than you to make that happen?

Adventures in Community Outreach
Tony Karoumi shares his experience volunteering for the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

One of the benefits of volunteering for outreach events is the chance to be a steward for the profession. You never really know what opportunities you might be creating for yourself or others when you make the commitment to share your time and talents at events like these. During some follow up emails with the staff at IBJI, I learned they are currently looking to hire a part-time (20hrs a week) Massage Therapist. They require someone with at least a few years of experience and ideally a sports background/certification (CSCS, ATC, NASM, etc.).
