IPAY: International Performing Arts for Youth

Youth & Family Programming Forum at APAP
Boomer Stacey,
IPAY Executive Director, gears up for Showcase 2018

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Happy New Year! Our 40th Anniversary Showcase 2018 in Philadelphia is less than three weeks away. If you are attending APAP next week you can gear up for IPAY Showcase at the APAP Youth and Family Programming Forum on Friday, January 12, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Hilton Rendezvous Trianon Room, led by Sarah McCarthy and myself.
We all know the saying that "it takes a village" to raise a child, but what happens when we apply that thinking to creating and presenting performing arts for young people? How do we as key professionals in this village - artists, agents, presenters  and educators - work together to make innovative and relevant work for students and families? Join us for a discussion about how to engage young people to achieve the full potential of what a live arts experience has to offer, both on stage and in community outreach.

Sarah and I will be joined by Shelley Quiala, Vice President of Arts Education and Community Engagement (Ordway Center); Amy Miller,  Director of Engagement (Alys Stephens Performing  Arts  Center);  and Lindsey Buller Maliekel, Director of Education (New Victory). A n awesome line up, I know.

The dialogue will continue at our all day pre-conference SPARK Sessions on January 23, a collaboration between TYA/USA and IPAY focused on the great work being made by our friends in Australia.  Read more about SPARK and register here.
As always, a feature of Showcase will be KINDLING, an open invitation to all members of our community to share perspectives and ideas, and a gathering for our global sector to come together witwarmth and good spirit to engage in conversation.
We look forward to welcoming you home to Showcase 2018 in Philadelphia and to setting a place at the table for you.  Very warmest regards on behalf of the Staff and Board at IPAY.

"Going to Showcase each year has been an eye-opening experience. We have been able to network with other organizations and artists, whom we otherwise would not have known about. We are located in a very rural area and usually have to wait for other larger organizations to book events before we can figure out our season... Our programming opportunities have expanded due to the contacts we have made. We are appreciative of all the new artists we have come in contact with and have been fortunate to book."
