              WE ARE WINNERS!!

The Barbara Bush Library Friends switched to Constant Contact for the mailing of its newsletters last year. Since then we have sent out at least four targeted mailings each month, grown our contact list to over 850 subscribers, and reached many people with the great news about our library. Only 10% of Constant Contact customers receive this special honor, and we are pleased to be among them.

Sweet treats!
      SWEET
      TREATS
Library staff and volunteers were surprised on March 16 by an anonymous
thank-you gift of delicious sweets from a library customer in thanks for the services we provide to the community. We say "thanks" in return for everyone's support of the library.
Mrs. Barbara Bush Visited on March 21

Former First Lady Barbara Bush recently made her sixth visit to the library that was named in her honor.
Barbara Bush reads to children
When Mrs. Bush comes, her first priority is always to read to the children. She is a great proponent of family literacy and always encourages parents and grandparents to read with their little Barbara Bush with her dogsones every day.

Prior to coming to the library, Mrs. Bush had stopped to dedicate the Bibi and Mini-Me Bush Dog Park, named for two of her dogs who she also came along to the library. This new facility for pets is located near Pundt Park in Spring. According to the pups, it is a GGGRRReat place.

Mrs. Bush with Senior Games Group
Before heading on to yet another engagement in College Station, the energetic 86-year-old Mrs. Bush paused for a photo with the library's regular Wednesday morning Senior Games group.  There are additional photos at
                                           www.bblf.org.

              BUTTERFLY PROJECT

 butterfly 3Butterfly 1

During National Holocaust Month, the Barbara Bush Library is participating in 'The Butterfly Project' in cooperation with the  Holocaust Museum Houston. In an effort to remember the 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust, the Museum is collecting handmade butterflies to be featured in a 2014 exhibit.

Throughout April, a table will be set up in the library lobby with supplies to make a butterfly for this project, as well as a box to hold completed butterflies. Please take a moment to remember, and make a butterfly.

For more information on 'The Butterfly Project' visit http://www.hmh.org/ed_butterfly1.shtml.
