Aurora Public Schools Community:
|
|
Each year I look forward to the start of the school year. It is a joy to witness the excitement of our students and staff on the
first days of school
. This year, as is our tradition, community members joined us to welcome students back and encourage them to have a great year. Thank you to all of our gracious community greeters for taking the time to make our students feel special.
We are also kicking off this school year with promising news. The Colorado Department of Education recently released data from the 2017 statewide CMAS assessments. We are excited to see that Aurora Public Schools is increasing its momentum to improve student achievement across the district. Our growth scores are some of the highest our district has seen in years and we are seeing more consistent gains spread throughout APS. We are encouraged to see that our efforts to close the achievement gap and provide intensive supports to our English language learners are working. We recognize that we still have much work ahead of us. However, our data demonstrates that we are a school district that is reaching for and attaining new levels of success.
I would like to thank our incredible students, staff and families for their continued hard work. Let's keep the momentum going as we look forward to another school year full of learning and opportunity.
