Educational Outreach Grants Available

Since 2011, the American Recorder Society has offered Educational Outreach Grants to help support recorder education. In the past few years, the ARS has proudly supported recorder programs around the country. But, we want to do more! The ARS would love to help you start a new recorder program or subsidize an existing program in your school, or perhaps we can help you receive further recorder education by helping you attend a recorder teacher workshop.

Who can apply?

Any person involved in teaching recorder may apply! Opportunities include, but are not limited to:
  • Funding for recorder programs
  • Funding for K-12 recorder teachers to attend recorder workshops
  • Funding to support bringing in recorder ensembles to schools for presentations/concerts
  • Funding for the purchase of recorders for school-related recorder ensembles
  • Funding for educational materials
Educational Outreach application time frame: May 1, 2015 - June 15, 2015.
Deadline: To be considered for an ARS Educational Outreach Grant, you must submit an application between May 1, 2015 and June 15, 2015. All applications will be reviewed by the ARS Scholarships and Grants Committee. Preference will be given to first-time applicants. Our typical grants range from $100-$500.
Peggy Turner's story:

In 2010, Peggy Turner from Ft. Worth, Texas, created Super Recorder Saturday, and all-day workshop for elementary recorder students in the Ft. Worth public school system. Her free workshop offers students a chance to attend several sessions geared toward their playing level, culminating in a performance for their parents at the end of the day. Peggy states, "For the last five years, the ARS has willingly supported Super Recorder Saturday for the love of music and their belief in the power of music in these young students' lives."
