June 2014
Each year, the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) awards grants ranging from $1,000 - $6,000 to Maryland artists. These Individual Artist Awards (IAA) honor the unique contributions of Maryland artists to the state's creative economy and help support artists as they advance their craft. The 2015 IAA application is now open to Maryland artists. The funding categories for 2015 include:
Non-Classical Music: Composition
Non-Classical Music: Solo Performance
Playwriting
Visual Arts: Crafts
Visual Arts: Photography
All applications must be submitted online, and the deadline for 2015 applications is 4:30 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
The Maryland State Arts Council and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation will offer three webinars for IAA applicants that will:
- Address applicant eligibility, discipline categories, and work sample formats;
- Provide instructions on how to complete the online application; and
- Provide information on the submission of digital images for visual artists.
Advance registration is required. To register, please follow the link to your desired webinar date:

Fredericktowne Players and a Murder Mystery
For all of you who love murder mysteries and laughter, the Fredericktowne Players are able to combine the two. If you are having a birthday party, office party or any other social event, hiring the Fredericktowne Players will mean that your event will be a memorable one for your guests. Naturally, as we are entertainers, these murder mysteries are only for the purpose of enjoyment as we don't want to hurt anyone. However, there is a chance that any one of your guests might die of laughter or other complications.

Camps are Filling Fast!
The Fun Company, Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, is now enrolling students for its burgeoning summer camp for kids and teens, Fun Camp. Fun Camp's wildly popular and successful summer camps are an intense, yet fun filled experience for young performers.
Depending on the session, campers spend the first week exploring exercises in acting, improvisation, voice, movement, theatrical design, song and dance. That is followed by a jam packed week of rehearsing for their final performance which is open to the public. Final performances are structured to reflect the individual participants of each session and are created based on their creativity, imaginations and unique characters.
The Fun Camp is offering three different two week sessions that will run between June 23 - August 15, 2014. All camps are held Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm with final performances taking place on the last Friday of the session at 3pm (except July 4 there will be no class and that final performance will be July 5). The first session of the camp will run from June 23 through July 5, the second from July 7 to July 18 and the final session from August 4 through August 15. All sessions are $380 with discounts available for additional family members or multiple camps.
For more information on each of the three sessions and to register, visit the Fun Camp registration page.

Frederick Community College
Tickets: $22.00
Inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley! It's 1955 and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing roustabout who changes everything and everyone he meets in this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy that'll have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Love Me Tender", "Heartbreak Hotel", Jailhouse Rock", "Burning Love" and "Don't Be Cruel". Will true love prevail? Will the power of music win the day? Will this small town in the Midwest survive getting all shook up? These questions and more are answered as the characters come together for a finale that will leave you all shook up!
